Was my dream demonic??????? :(

I had a dream that I was in this building (I think it was this church). I had this piece of paper with me, and for some reason I knew I could talk to God through it. So I crumpled the piece of paper and asked God "Do I have a purpose on this Earth?", and I opened the paper, and it says yes. I asked him if he could fully reveal my purpose to me then, and he said no. So I asked him if I could have a hint of a direction of what my purpose in life is. I see the paper disintegrate in one small area, and I see a hook, like one you would put on a fishing line. It was then I remembered the bible verse that discussed being fishers of men. Right when I said that, I heard the word "exactly".

I have asked Christians for an interpretation of the dream, and they say that Satan is trying to trick me, is this dream of the devil in your opinion?? Why would Satan call me to spread the gospel??? If it is of God, what do you think are some possible directions that God has for my life??? Thanks!

While God DOES have a history of speaking to us thru dreams, I must say that in 37 years with the Lord, He's never done this.

I'd caution you that most dreams are inventions of our own intellect. We ALL have a purpose given us by the Lord. We also know that spreading the Gospel is His plan for all of us, but other than that, His plan for you is probalby different from the one He has for me.

The answer is prayer - and I'd caution you to be VERY careful with people who claim to have the answer for you.

The question is not what "other" Christians think, the question is do you believe God wants you to be a "soul-winner" for Him? I think the obvious answer is of course He would want this, why would satan attempt to deceive you into "getting others saved"? The first thing you must have is an awareness of the Holy Spirit, with and upon you. If God has called you to this? He will equip you with a anointing to do the work. Without this there is no calling, nor ability. So prayer is needed and "ask" for the Holy Spirit and power to be a witness to others. Step 1:)

Discount it. Anything we get from God must be full of peace and clearly understood. This is why we have scripture so that we don't get sidetracked by some dream we had while going to bed on to full of a stomach. There are parts in the dream that do not line up with the Word. As for the devil, I would not be to concerned about him either. Any dream from a devil should be ignored anyway, and any thought from a devil should be cast down regardless.

As for the plan of God for your life?? That should be number one, and I would spend some time praying in tongues and getting directions.

So discount the dream and don't be moved by dreams that don't line up with the Word.
Devil or no devil we don't listen to a thing He says anyway.
Get to seeking God, praying in tongues about direction. You can also pray what Paul did in Col chapter 1.

Mike.

What he said.

And I did not make it clear, but no, I don't think your dream was demonic. But I also don't think it is likely to be a word from the Lord.

@Wchristianfaith

In my understanding, I have faith to believe that your dream was from God!

I have had spiritual dreams many times. I also have the gift of discernment, although sometimes I wish I didn't...

I would hold that dream in your heart: it is special.

Nothing about that dream looks demonic to me. We all are called to be "fishers for men", so that part is in line with scripture. Like you said, why would Satan call you to win souls?

I'm reluctant to say the dream was from God though. It may have been your subconciousness creating a story about talking to God about the questions you desire to find answers to. Our mind is a very complex and unfathomable thing, and it's very natural for a christian person's mind to come up with dreams that involve God or the devil. We dream about things that matter in our lives.
So please be carefull, don't attribute a spiritual meaning to every dream you have. You would only get confused. Sometimes dreams are just dreams and things that appear to be from God actually originate from our own selves.
