Wedding in Church

Carolyn... you must be my sister..... we seem to think alike quite often :)

Marriage is very much Christian

<dir>Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Gen 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
</dir>Maybe I did not understand your words

Among Christians it has that application in a wonderful way, but Genesis isn't Christian; it's divinely appointed, and there is a difference, dispensationally.

Blessings.

ok I understand what you meant... Odd about the use of the word dispensation/s in scripture there it refers to stewardship...

reba: Just using it as Uncle C I does, in his Scofield Bible notes ... :)

It's good to remember also that in some European countries couples are obliged by law to have a civil ceremony before they have any church ceremony that they might choose. Then, once they are already married, whatever they have afterwards is their business, but simply not recognized in law.

In Norway we have a State Church, first you need to apply for marriage through a civil service and have a reference by a pastor in the state church (if you are having the wedding in Norway, if not you need to fill out a form of time and place it will be held), you also need one witness to sign a form that you are not closely related to the other person, and another form that say that you don't have HIV, Aids or any other form of disease. If you do have it, then your spouse need to sign that she/he knows about it. After you get the approval to marry you get a final document for registration of marry in the people register which you need to send in.

After it you can have wedding where you want. Personally I had garden style wedding with family close friends and pastor. I guess if you already have all the documents you don't really need to have any celebration, though it sounds kind of boring just having paper work and no prayer or blessings from a pastor.
