Are there any other fans of his out there? Here are some of my personal favorites. (my number one favorite is Amish Paradise but I can't post it due to the material and questionable content I do believe that these ones are alright though :)) By the way he's a Christian too in case you weren't already aware of that. Somebody from his church posed on his Poodle Hat album or something.

Been a fan since the 80's. May have a chance to see him on the 22nd when his ill-advised vanity tour makes his way through town.

Well that was a fast response lol I wish I could go and see him. I was just watching Amish paradise on YouTube since I don't believe posting it on here would be a good idea. I still love the other songs I posted though but that one is my ultimate favorite. I thought about starting this topic when somebody mentioned spam in another topic and I posted this song. :lol

American Pie I had not heard him do. What a great video!

You would not believe how much the original was on the radio when it came out, and for like ever ...

I remember Weird Al from the late 70's...
(He is getting old)
He was a regular on the Doctor Dimento radio program.
Hamster Love
Look on the Bright Side of Life
My Dead Dog Rover
And many more could be heard on this program.
The perfect silliness that attracted a guy in his teens.

I really like the original as well. However I was reading up on some of the lyrics and I really don't think that it would be accepted here unfortunately.

Probably not....
Some of the things that I say at work wouldn't be acceptable language here.
(Construction Electrician foreman)

But that doesn't mean that I can't control my tongue well enough to speak here.

I speak to others so that they can hear me. It's more important that that they understand and receive what I say than for me to speak what I want.

I also read an article with the composer finally explaining what the song is about. Nobody ever knew, but everybody could sing along with at least some of the words ...

Lol, it was probably the same one that I read last night. You know back when I was a child, I thought that it was an actual pie. I actually even asked my mother if it was like pumpkin pie LOL!

NOBODY knew what that "pie" was about, lol. They even came out with a movie by that name.

Yeah I know. I heard about it but I never actually saw it. What's it about exactly do you know? By the way, according to the article I read, it was speaking metaphically taking off of the phrase as simple as apple pie but I can't really explain it more than that because even I am still a bit confused by the explanation lol

That explanation is confusing, and the lyrics are intentionally confusing. He's using "American Pie" and "Miss American Pie" to allude to a brief time in American history that he preferred, partly because of the music of Buddy Holly and a few others.

The TV show Happy Days was similarly nostalgic. That was really "a thing" back when, too ...

I vaguely remember Happy Days. Wasn't the theme song something like, "Sunday, Monday happy days" or something like that and a character nicknamed "Boss" or something?

Yup. It came out about a year and a half after American Pie (the song, not the movie, which I never saw because it's juvenile trash)

Really? What was the kid's real name? I really need your help on this one because for the life of me I just can't think of his name! I do believe that he was tall and had curly hair and had a Boston or Manhattan accent or something... wait a minute, was it Tony? Or was that the actor that played him? That name literally just came to me lol the kid who played Johnny from the Outsiders was also in it, I can't spell his real last name though.

The one who played Johnny was still a part of Happy Days though, I just looked it up, but Tony was from Who's The Boss? I just got a bit confused that's all.

Anyway,.. let's get :topic Here's a couple more videos of Weird Al. Another one of the songs of his that I love around Christmas is "The Night Santa Went Crazy." I know it's wrong and evil of me, but do I really have to like and agree with the lyrics to like a song that's catchy because that seems to be quite a bit of a debate around here. Don't worry I won't post it though but I still really like the tune. :)

Oh and for the record yes I know that Christmas isn't about Santa Claus, but just like the Easter Bunny I believe it's still fun just as we remember that in both cases, Jesus is the reason for the season. :)
