"But he who endures to the end shall be saved." Matthew 24:13
Yesterday, I was watching the story of "The Temptations." The founder of "The Temptations" Otis Williams was born into difficult circumstances only to go on to be one of the most successful, enduring icons of music.
Otis was born to an unwed 16-year old mother in the deep south. He was raised by his grandparents until he was 10 and then his mother and step-father took him when they moved to Detroit, MI. His step-father wanted Otis to work on the assembly line in Detroit, but his head was always in the music scene. Otis started "The Temptations" when he was still in high school in 1958.
Otis endured many trails and hardships on the way to success. The group had some limited success until 1964 when, "My Girl" became a top 10 hit and their signature song. Other greats hits like "Ball of Confusion" and "Papa was a Rollin' Stone" topped the charts. Otis endured the loss of his marriage and his only son Lamont. None of the original members of the group are still alive today except Otis.
Yet, through it all, "The Temptations" still endure. For nearly 60 years one man has kept "The Temptations" alive. What a legacy one man has left us because he just refused to give up.
Otis Williams leave us a worldly legacy, yet as Christians we are promised a heavenly legacy if we endure until the end. What legacy are you leaving? What is your mindset? Are you going to endure to the end so that you can be rewarded with a heavenly legacy when you die?View attachment 4416
