Now is the time to evaluate your 2008 season. Look at your training and determine what worked and what didn’t. Having a training log will help you see your fitness progression throughout the year. Do you need to improve your speed, endurance, strength on hills, mental focus, recovery, weight loss, upper body and core strength, race strategy, nutrition, hydration, flexibility, and race preparation? You can seek out resources to increase your training and racing knowledge. Read magazines, books and seek out a coach to give you a different perspective and some accountability. It is also helpful to evaluate areas of your personal and professional life, because problems there will be a detriment to your training and racing. Some people use athletics to run from their problems. Another great asset is a club or training group. These groups can help with structure, feedback, knowledge and expertise. From those groups you might develop a training partner that would a source of encouragement and accountability. Evaluate your past years and make 2009 your best ever.

My husband and I decided to hold each other physically accountable. We both want to get into better shape but lack the motivation. If we ask each other how we're doing and steer each other in a good direction, we'll be able to become more physically fit and bring our relationship closer. It's hard to go to the gym and eat right and lose weight alone. One can easily become discouraged. This way, we each have a buddy that we know we can trust.

I'm running a marathon in April with a friend who is giving birth in a couple months. We're doing it to welcome her back to her pre-baby body. I also got myself back on my good eating regimen with my whey protein and egg whites along with other healthy low fat/low carb foods. I don't have a specific goal other than fitting into my jeans again and being in shape for my July wedding next year. My boyfriend is doing it as well and we're hoping we'll be able to keep each other accountable to stay on track. Part of me is hoping that I'll get in good enough shape to be in a fitness contest...it's not a set goal but it crosses my mind.

My goals are to continue to improve at playing instruments as well get cut physically which is pretty much every year, but somehow its hard to stop eating unhealthy food because it tastes sooo good. :)

I hear you there! I crave fried chicken and french fries and chips and dip all the time! It's horrible! Fortunately I'm able to steer clear when I go grocery shopping (most of the time) so I don't have it in the house for me to binge on! Oh fried foods how I love thee...

My athletic goals this year :)

To stay in shape without tennis! Perhaps go for endurance running a bit. And of course general strength.

To have fun riding horses!

To play tennis with someone for fun and enjoy it.

Everywhere you turn today, everyone keeps hollering at you:

'You're not eating enough VEGETABLES!
'You're not getting enough EXERCISE'
'Give up MEAT! Give up COFFEE!'
'Get out of the SUN!'
'While you're at it, GIVE UP EVERYTHING!'

Nag, nag, nag! They never let up!
But I've got great news…

My Dear Besieged Friend:

Even though everyone else is giving up coffee, alcohol, meat, eggs, fatty foods, sunshine and all things that make life livable…

Even though they're exercising like maniacs, sweating like horses and scolding YOU for not joining them…

Please don't submit to this self-denial because…

It's just JUNK MEDICINE .

Now this is my kind of doctor. Read more here>>>>> http://www.thedouglassreport.com/newsletter.html

(BTW--- that's my goal: to depart from the medical/health hoopla one hears today and really stay healthy!)

I'm at about 203 lbs. My goal is I should be at about 188-190. :)

After I move to New York and things settle down, I can get back into a regular routine.

If I had to set a 2009 goal it would probably be to break my need for soft drinks and to keep my weight around 200-210 lbs. I weighed about 204 back in August and I'm now back to 218. I Felt better closer to the 200 mark.

I would also like to get more regular about fitness habits. It's never a bad thing to be more fit.
