What created God?

God wasn't created; HE IS The Creator of all things though.

I'm saying I do believe in Genisis, to a certain aspect, and think that God created the big bang to make the Earth. The heavens though aren't particularly on this plane of existance, so the Big Bang didn't create Heaven.
The proper translation of "shamayim" in Genesis 1:1 is heavens. So, is Genesis 1:1 saying God created the entire universe at that time, or could Genesis be speaking of, say, our galaxy? The Bible isn't specific on this point, but there is this:

Job 38
¶ Where were you when I founded the earth? Declare if you know understanding.
5 Who has set its dimensions, for you know? Or who has stretched a line on it?
6 On what were its bases sunk? Or who cast its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (LITV)

The earth was founded in Genesis 1:1, yet here we see morning stars singing and sons of God shouting for joy. There had to have been stars already in space for them to be "singing". Plus, our own galaxy is over 100,000 light years wide.

Take a listen to this:

I would have to believe in a comoslogical theory that is impossible to prove and has a foundation that it is based on other theories that have not been proven. I know God is not a theory, and believe Him when He says that He is the I Am, and when He says that He is the Creator of the Universe...not other way around. The Lord bless you.

Something to think about:

Wisdom

Proverbs 8:22-31
22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Thats good scripture, Relic.
I feel that when God said "I Am", it was/is something that's loaded with meaning beyond our comprehension.
He created the concept of time yet He isn't susceptible to our understanding of what that is, nor is he susceptible to time itself.
He's fathomless.

Another good question to stew on.

My belief is that the big bang was the birth of God. Its an interesting idea to think about.

God is.....thats the answer!

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Just some food for thought:

Job 38:4-18 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Or [who] shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, [as if] it had issued out of the womb?
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
And brake up for it my decreed [place], and set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; [and] caused the dayspring to know his place;
That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
It is turned as clay [to] the seal; and they stand as a garment.
And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.
Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

Job 40:2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

Isa 45:9 ¶ Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! [Let] the potsherd [strive] with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

The bible was written by men just like you and me Lewis. And like you said before Lewis "Man always comes up with some garbage when they cannot answer something". That's why I choose to believe certain parts of the bible, and choose not to believe other parts of it. Some people that wrote the bible might have just had theories, just like the ones who came up with the Big Bang.

Lastly, i'm prepared for the flaming i'm gonna recieve from that post :)

I have been following this thread and wish really not to get into the discussion of how God got here and so forth because its a question that simply requires faith to believe. What has me concerned is that I was under the impression you were a Christian. I just don't see how a person could trully be a Christian with out accepting the whole counsel of God. I could see this in a new believer, but you have been commenting like someone who has been around the word of God for a while, but has not embraced it. Kinda like the second or even 3rd soil. For a person who is born again like Thess or Lewis, destiny and many others here, we take Gen 1:1 for what it says and thats that. There are many things we can't possibly understand and know about God, and really why would we want to bow down and worship a God whom we fully understand. I pray that you will come to an understanding in saving Grace that Jesus offers.
