What Denomination Was Jesus?

I just asked in Bible Study why Jesus was considered a Jew and I discovered that it had absolutely nothing to do with being Jewish. It was because He hailed from Judea. So what kind of denomination was He anyway? What religion did He teach the deciples? I'm pretty sure it wasn't Catholic, (since I don't think He would pray to His mother, honoring her is different I know He did that) but I wonder if it was Baptist or my religion Methodist. Whatever He taught that has to be the right religion but what exactly was it? Maybe we'll never know and that's why we just get to choose what we want to believe.
 
I think Jesus challenged all of them in that time. There were Pharasises, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots, and I think at least one more. Jesus is the Teacher, and I don't think He belonged to any of those sects.

Jesus has a strong argument because no one can prove him or correct him wrong.

Jesus was a Jew. (Still is)
Gal 4: But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
That would be the Law of Moses
Matthew 1 shows Jesus to be a descendant (son of) Abraham and a descendant of David. You can't get more Jewish than that.

He taught them the Jewish religion as it was supposed to be taught rather than being the multitude of rules about every little thing in life. That religion was summed up with only two commandments: love God and love your neighbor. (Mat 22:36-40)

We call it "Christianity."
It was first called "the Way". The original believers were all Jews who believed in Jesus as the Messiah.

That's a great way to totally miss God's will for you.
We know what Jesus taught. It is recorded in the New Testament.

And technically, a "denomination" is a deviation from the teaching of Jesus and the apostles. Striclty speaking, there were no "denominations" until after the Protestants separated from the Church in the 1500s.

Those denominations would not exist for another 1500 years.

We call it "Christianity."

I would challenge that notion, and not just due to the great schism of 1054. There were all sorts of sects that kept popping up, and that's mainly what prompted the ECF's (early Church fathers) to write.

You are equating "heresies" with "sects".
The explosion of denominations (30 to 50 thousand, depending on who you ask) was the effect of the Protestant reformation.
You can count then heresies that arose during the time of the early Church on your fingers.
 
In general, while I think Jesus is part of all denominations where you must be ''born again'' many are non denomination and ''born again'' because they put no limits on God and refuse to be burdened down with man made church doctrines .. I think various denominations are good and make up the various parts of the body in the face of us non-denominationals .. Also revivals have broken out when one denomination or another cool down then another catches fire then revival returns, souls are saved, to heat up the cool again even at individual church levels .. Imagine if only one denomination where they thought they had arrived how stale they could become or if they began letting the world creep in ..
