Growth What Did You Learn In Church Today?

Well I think what we learned in church today is pretty much a review instead because it's something we already know but it's so easily forgotten. We studied The Parable of The Prodigal Son and after the service I talked with my pastor that sometimes I feel like both sons. (Since he actually asked us to think about it.) Sometimes I feel like I'm living the way that God wants me to live and He's ignoring me and sometimes I feel like I'm not worthy of His grace and when it comes to that it's true,.. but that's when my pastor told me that since none of us are never enough anyways, it's not about who we are but who Jesus is. :cross Also we sung one of my favorite songs this morning. :)

I learned that it's a duty of a Christian to be very patriotic.
And it's a shame that monuments to Confederate generals (the men who caused the death of hundreds of thousands of Americans in a rebellion against this country) are sometimes removed.
But today, not very much about Christ.

Well it's probably because of the fact that it's Memorial Day weekend but I forgot to post this song earlier that was also a part of today's service that I love. :)

Peaks and valleys, yes. That's - to me, anyhow - a given. It brings me much peace to know that He is not a feeling! And, you are His child and He sees you as precious in His sight and He gladly gives you the gift of His grace ♥. He sees Jesus when He sees you. Read His Word and pray as much as you can. None of us are worthy on our own, no matter how "good" we are or through what we do or don't do, it's Him, all Him! YAY :sohappy
Back to the OP- Today we talked about racism. And man was it ever rampant in Jesus time! And funny enough, the pastor in passing, did touch on our "Identity" as children of God :)

Maybe some people get confused because 3 days and 3 nights when it was 3 nights and 3 days. Same thing, 3 days and 3 nights is the same as 3 nights and 3 days. It's still 72 hours and 3 full days and 3 full nights or 3 full nights and 3 full days, either way. It doesn't matter.

your right about that..

I don't need to go to church and hear the gospel because I already know it, so what else is there to do when it comes to church and learning, I may as well try figure things out and some sequence of events that some people can't seem to figure out, like how does 3 days and 3 nights work. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but that's about as good a fit in harmony with scripture as it can get.

Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds. You should not stay away from the church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other. Hebrews 10:24-25 CEV

Which suggests that the point of gathering together is supposed to be to love, help, and encourage each other. Pray for each other.

why keep bringing it? for fact the Bible says 3 days 3 nights is good enough for me .. we are told to attend church .. although the majority ignore that . it dies no good to preach we are to assemble ourselves together . we hear i cant find a church that suits me .or i dont have to go to church to be a christian.... that is correct .but what we are really saying is .i cant find a church that believes like me.. pretty soon our theme song is i did it my way . any more when preaching a message it all most feels like pouring water on a duck back rolls off. minds are made up the moment they walk through the door. so what difference does it make . we ignore half the Bible any how

I don't think Im trying to bring anything. I only made two posts on 3 days and 3 nights, i do my own study, so that is what I learned at church today. :)

I don't think the Bible is out of date. God is still who he was, human nature is still what it was.
From the very beginning of the Christian age, as can be seen in Acts and the epistles, the norm was for believers to bond in committed community. To have co responsibility with one another.

So today I went to a visiting non-denominational church and the message was pretty good for Father's Day and how the man is supposed to cultivate the home. Although women can still cultivate as well. :)

Today we didn't really have a sermon, it was just a middle school who came to talk to us about the different ways that they showed the love of Christ by helping those less fortunate,.. but it was still a really good message. :)

We talked about (in Sunday School) Church leadership as discussed in Timothy 5
