What do you do?

Halloween. The kids in the neighborhood rings the doorbell asking "Trick or treat".

What do you do?

From a Christian perspective, is dismissing them altogether the right thing to do?

Dismissing them is definitely the wrong thing to do.
So what should a Christian do?
I think that some sweets should be given together with a suitable tract and an invite card to ones churches youth group.
If adults accompany the children have a tract suitable for them and maybe a top up for their hot drink container.

What one can also do is de orate ones house, window with a suitable Christian theme.
Just don't ask me for ideas about the theme.

You can either turn your porch light off or as Who Me said, hand out candy and also a Christian tract. Many do not see the underlining of evil within Halloween. When my sisters kids were young they dressed up as a Bible character and handed out a Christian tract to every house as they collected their candy.

Well you can pray for rain. It rained here right during the hours last night, so we didn't have a single treater, Lol. :thumbsup

My wife felt sorry for them. I didn't. But yeah, don't leave any lights on and don't answer, I.e. don't participate is probably the best solution.

What you do is up to you. My personal view is that the underlying evil of the holiday is only valid as long as it is celebrated. Trick or treat is not celebrating some ancient pagan ritual. It is just a fun thing to do one particular day each year.

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master[a] that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

No it is not imo. Why? Because Christ tells us not to be a stumbling block for people. And, kids understand they get candy that night and that's it. imo

Florida has had enough of the water stuff .

I can post the flooded roads from Milton and how bad it got.

We just turn off the outside lights and ignore the knocks at the door. Sometimes we go out and have dinner with a few friends and stay until after T&T is over.
