Different views of Genesis come from people taking outside ideas, beliefs from fallible man, and interpreting the clear words of Scripture to fit those beliefs.

Genesis is a Greek word meaning origin, source, generation or beginning. The original Hebrew title Bereshith means "In the beginning". The literary structure of Genesis is clear and built around eleven separate units, each headed with the word generations in the phrase "These are the generations" or "The book of the generations. Introduction to the generations begins with Heaven and Earth. Then moves on to Adam and all the faithful and unfaithful lineage of the generations beginning with Cain and Seth. Genesis sets the foundation of God's plan of salvation for those who turned away from God as the plan was made before the foundation of the world. Whether it's been millions of years ago or 6000 years ago it's about our need of a redeemer through that of Christ Jesus.

amen

this part stood out to me

"Yes, there are difficult passages in Scripture. And yes, having an understanding of Hebrew and Greek will add depth to one’s understanding of what God’s Word is teaching us. But God’s Word is for all people for all time. God has communicated the basic message in a way we can understand. If we let God’s Word speak to us, keeping in mind the aim of various types of biblical literature, anyone can understand the basic message in the same way we can understand a traffic manual. That’s called the perspicuity of Scripture, a big word for a simple concept that the message is clear. It means what it says. "
