I do that too.
So I think one thing the Lord spends a lot of time doing is listening to us.

I do that too.
That is a comforting thoughtSo I think one thing the Lord spends a lot of time doing is listening to us.
When someone disappoints me, I look in the mirror and think about how many times I have disappointed others, myself, and my God.
Doesn't take long to repent and forgive.
Thanks a lot. How about before creation?
so, are you saying, that when someone else sins against God , instead of them repenting, you repent ? does that help them ?
What?
you said that when someone upsets you, you repent.
this morning, about 3 hours ago, God provided a perfect example of what.
i was at an appliance warehouse to pick up and deliver a machine to a 93 year old friend for her service provider.
while looking at the machine and talking to the service provider, he was trying to call her (several times) to verify she'd be home to accept the machine.
she didn't answer and we had no knowledge of if she'd be home,
so I told him it might be wiser to not buy the machine yet in case worst case scenario she was in the hospital or something and wouldn't be able to get it.
the sons owner at the appliance warehouse had snuck in sneakily, craftily, (i.e. not openly and honestly), and proceeded to cuss me out and tell me he was going to punch me out and press me face down into the concrete sidewalk if I ever came back !! (he has at least 3 demons, btw; for other thread later if he gets saved and delivered) (there's a twenty year history there - i used to do some work for his dad.... it was ugly.... (but never out in the open)....
now, when i was a lot younger, that attack might have upset me. by the miracle of being saved in God's amazing free grace in Christ Jesus and maturing in faith and experience in Christ Jesus for several decades, i was unperturbed calm and peaceful all along......
now, I took it to the 'gate' locally (the men who oversee these matters) and reported it for their appraisal .
a few minutes ago, i talked with the friends husband who informed me that yes she was in the hospital and wouldn't get out today, maybe tomorrow, and they decided to buy a brand new machine if/when she gets to come home (he's spending the day at the hospital with her --- they've been MARRIED 72 YEARS !!!!![]()

back
to the question
if it was you that a business man vulgarly cussed at and threatened to bash you into the sidewalk if you ever came back, and if you got upset, and if you repented, what would you repent of ? and would that help him at all ? that's the "what" of the previous posts.
(I didn't think this up or plan any part of it. Like I said, God was good enough to provide an example, a more dramatic one than I might have thought of, but very timely on several things (God is good at that -- it's HIS JOB!)........................ )
