What does it mean to Judge Not?

I just happened to see this on a friend's blog........ Pretty good timing!

Jesus never troubled the troubled or harassed the harassed. He never belittled the belittled, marginalized the marginalized or excluded the excluded.

These were the ones He befriended, came alongside of, and called disciples and apostles. These were the ones whose names and identities He said would be forever attached to the Gospel message. It was these He said would enter the Kingdom in front of... the religious "scholars" and fundamentalists of the day.

The only ones He ever pointed fingers at were the finger pointers.

So if you, in the name of holiness, seek to emulate Jesus and so exclude, marginalize, harass, belittle and finger-point, make sure you don't end up looking like the only people He ever condemned.

Jesus is for the "sinners" of this world, but stands opposed to those who are all too eager to slap that label on another.

Judge not? What?

the definition of judge in this context(God's Word says "don't judge") is "don't judge in a condemning way" or "don't condemn".

as for other contexts, the definition of judge(same english word, different word in original Scripture) is 'appraise' or 'evaluate' or other, and, the ecclesia is going to judge angels, and today is supposed to be able to judge one's self, one another, and spirits and words and businesses and governments and schools and churches , (for the purpose of) safety from deception, for purity, for edification, for growth in Christ's body, for sanctification, et al)
but
the context ("ecclesia") includes the quality of abiding in Abba with Yeshua and never judging by what can be seen or felt or heard (physically/temporally).

When I was much younger we were made to believe or rather we grew up with the belief that the usual phrase, 'judge not' [I didnt want to change its form on the thread title], meant we should not condemn someone to hell or tell them they deserve hell because they are evil or did something so bad and wicked

However I dont think it is wrong to rebuke a Christian who is erring. We can do that in love.

Do not judge according to the ways of man.
Just because a man made mistakes more than once, and sinned more than once doesnt mean they can't be forgiven.
Dont judge someone by what they did in the past to someone else.
Dont judge someone because of what you were told.

Matthew 7
7 “Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.


What that passage is saying is, we will be judged according to the way we judge. If we judge harshly, we can expect to be judged harshly. If our judgment is true, the same will be measured back to us.


James 2
13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
