What does your name mean?

That's interesting, Nancy. Because, speaking of names going together, my second name, Ann, is from Hannah as well, which means my full name would be "Gift of God: Grace, favor" which is a pretty good gospel. I know that this wasn't intentional, to have my name mean this. I was named after my great-grandmother, Dora and my middle name is a traditional middle name for women in my family.

Nice! I do notice how names go together as well. I am intrigued by your names together because as a girl, I read that Nancy (Hannah) means, "Gracious gift of God". What is your name that means, "gift"?

I named my girls without really putting the two names together, but as I believe that God is the one who really names us, I find it really fascinating how they become their namesakes.

My oldest, Kelly's name means warrior maiden. She's a srcappy one, defending herself well! Her middle name is Anne.

Then there is Sarah Bethany. Sarah=Princess; Bethany=House of Friendship. She is a princess of the Lord and has the gift of hospitality and is a wise and loyal friend.!

Finally, there is Amanda Eden: Beloved woman coupled with Paradise! She is a beloved woman who is so beautiful, she looks like she has come out of Paradise!

I love this stuff!

That's so cool Nancy! It's neat how life verses come together also. Mine is my signature (Proverbs 31:29) This was given to me as a small child, and it fits my personality perfectly.

My names Naomi, thats biblical...right? I haven't read the whole bible yet. Well when I google it:

It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "pleasant". Biblical: an ancestress of Jesus and mother-in-law to Ruth, who after her sons died, said, "Do not call me Naomi, call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me".

I thought it was in the bible! :-D

Bonnie means:

1. Chiefly Scot. pleasing to the eye; handsome; pretty.
2. British Dialect. a. (of people) healthy, sweet, and lively.
b. (of places) placid; tranquil.
c. pleasing; agreeable; good.

–adverb 3. British Dialect. pleasingly; agreeably; very well.
–noun 4. Scot. and North England Archaic. a pretty girl or young woman.

However its origin says;
[Probably ultimately from French bon, good, from Latin bonus; see deu-2 in Indo-European roots.]

At least good and bonus are a a little like the fruit of the Spirit, which I prefer.

My second name is Allyson... which in its root~ alice means truth. My favorite name, but never one I have been called by, except tailed to my first name in a proclaimation of doom by my mother! EW!

Mine name's Kenan, you may have heard of him :P . I don't think that my name came directly from the bible, because I've got Turkish descent and my family's mostly Muslim, so I'm just Kenan because it's popular name in Turkey :) . But in Hebrew it means something else, not quite sure what though...

Kenan is Hebrew for "acquire" and has 2 variations (Kain and Keenan) Kenan was the great-grandson of Adam.

Mine is Craig. Its from a Scottish surname which was derived from Gaelic creag meaning "crag" or "rocks". The surname originally belonged to a person who lived near a crag. ...and it just so happens I do, and I love mountains!

I like that! We often suit our names, and represent them! I believe God really does name us.

I guess I have to admit it. My first name is "Donald", the meaning of which is "world ruler". Does this mean that I will become the Antichrist?

The original meaning of the name I use on this forum, "Paidion", is a Greek word which originally meant "trained little child", but later came to mean simply "little child". The verbal form of the word is "paideuÃ…Â" which means "train" as in training a child.

And calling to him a paidion, he put him in the midst of them, and said, "Truly, I tell you, unless you turn and become like paidia, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18: 2,3

As George MacDonald pointed out, Jesus didn't just place any child in their midst. Would he have used one of those little children who screams in rage at his mother at the market that he want a certain candy bar or toy? We would hardly enter the Kingdom by become like that kind of child. No, Jesus placed a special child in their midst --- one who was trained, humble, submissive, and trusting.

First Name: Joshua - meaning: Jehovah Saves

Middle Name: Michael - meaning: Who Is Like God?

I like my name!

mine is Hebrew and means "woman of judea"
Also in Hebrew, it means 'Praised' and 'Jewess' and is the feminine form of Judah.

First name is related to Christmas - "Born on Christmas day" or "birthday" or "Christmas" (seen all three) And no, my birthday isn't on Christmas ;)
Last name is "the street"
Middle is "noble, exalted"

My cousin's name is Christmas Grace. She arrived on Christmas day, so my uncle decided to change the name that he had planned for her and name her Christmas. Christmas suites her well, too.
