I'll start off...

I am a computer network tech/admin. That should explain why I am on the Net as often as I am. Long hours, but it's easy work, most the time. Hey, someone's got to do it! :)
 
I am few rungs below ya Vic. I am a Desktop Analyst for a hospital. Working on getting to the Network team though.

I am starting to feel however that this may not be my calling. But I digress...

Cool, is that like a Help desk kind of thing? Maybe you could elaborate for us?

Since God put me in this position (a story I will save for a latter testimony thread) I will assume this is HIS calling for me right now.
 
I tell my friends from college that I am a neurosurgeon.......

For good or for bad, this is not true.

To those who have been exposed to my somewhat pacifistic leanings, you may be amused to know that I am involved in the design of defence systems (mostly Navy stuff). I do a combination of proposal writing and system design. This work tends to not involve a lot of meetings, so I have the luxury of posting at times during the workday and making up the time later.

I am surrounded by the stereotypical "Star-Trek-watching, headphone-listening, twenty or thirty - something, video-gameplaying, never-kissed-a-girl" software engineers.

When I accuse them of being "nerds", they generally reply that I, too, am a nerd, just not the same kind of nerd that they are.

All too true, I fear.
 
I build Honda and Acura race engines...My company ships race engines all over the world and that has opened up many a door for me to travel...Sounds Kinda cool ha?,....but for me it has gotten really old..

Frankly, I am at times tired of it...I have been a Grease monkey (or duck) since I was 15 years old....The hours are very long, sometimes I work for a few days straight, with only time to take naps etc, but there have been times when I don't go home for almost a week straight...I do not let that happen any longer...but it pays the bills....

I need to find something else to do.... Hey, the emoticons with the eyes that go round is not there? Did the :robot: eat it? Its looking at me again.
 
I am a Phlebotomist. People love to come see me. :wink:
I work part time...4 hours a day Monday-Friday. LOVE my hours and love my job 90% of the time.
 
I’m a jack of all trades, master of none! Lol

I think I hold the title “Senior something or another†and work for a major global supplier of services and technology in the I.T. marketplace. I kinda fall between a liaison, software / hardware technician, manager and Johnny on the spot.

Right now were migrating our systems and well… last week I got 19 hrs of OT (that’s over time lol) needless to say, IT is fun when it’s all working right, but when it’s not.. ouch.

Hey Jav, I'd love to have your job!
 
I have been retired from my position as Director of Network Control Systems due to medical injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident where I was run off the road into a guard rail. A couple of the projects that I have overseen are; the implementation and maintenance of the Computer systems that train control dispatchers utilize in their day to day managment of train movements, the direction of the complilation of GPS data of the assets on 30,000 miles of the railroad in 28 states, and the post-processing the data for various initiatives in the state of the art technology of the nations railroads. I was also responsible for the collection and maintenence of all GPS data where changes occur in the field such as new signal locations, new trackage, retired and new crossings, retired and new construction. Some of the initiantives that I assisted in which utilizes this data is train engineer training similation units, hyrail limit compliance systems, and electronic train management systems.

And to think that I started out by digging ditches and climbing poles back in 1978 for the railroad in Colorado.
 
I work as an Assistant Manager in the Food Service Industry - Panera Bread to be exact.

Though I have served as a Youth Pastor for 5 years prior to working for Panera.

Currenltly, I know the Lord has called me back into the ministry - I am just waiting on His time to reveal the when and where. The ministry work will have something to do with Living out our Christian Faith - the Lord has given me a name for the ministry - LOTC: Living out the Call.

I believe living out the Call revolves around three areas: Discipleship, Peacemaker, and "Healer" (reconcilliation).

Mmmmm....Panera.....

My kids had Panera for the first time last month. They each had one of the HUGE chocolate chip muffins.

I am currently a research assistant in an investment bank's economic research team. But I am only in this job till next Friday as I am here on for a year as part of my degree. In September I go back to uni to do the final year of my degree -- hooray for becoming a student again!!!

Nope, no Help Desk for me (thankfully - I did phone support for an ISP for a while, not my thing). I guess you could call me more of a "Tier 2" technician. I'm actually stationed with another tech at a hospital. When it's something the help desk cannot fix, the call gets escalated to me and the other technician to resolve.

I'm glad as though you have found meaning and calling where you are at Vic. As for me, I'm still searching for that which can make coming to work a little difficult at times. But hey I'm working on 1 Thessalonians 5:16 and need to reminde myself that I am thankful for having a job to come to...
 
Electronics. Test engineering... various gas sensors, handhelds, intrinsically safe systems for coal mines, etc.
 
I wish my job was as exciting as some of you guys.
I'm in sales. Main category is natural gas meters & regulators. We also have another division that is not related at all. It involves the aviation industry.
I sit & talk all day.
 
Did > 30 years with NZ's national Telecom provider as a tech. Was made redundant - did stints of selling medical alarms, truck driving, taxi driving and 'off the beaten track' tourist excursions. Was offered a short term job for an IT company and have stayed about 8 years fixing PC's but now specialising in laptops. Have also recently become a rep for an international telecom company.

The Lord is good. I shall not want.
