yes another covid 19 related thread

As a Christian I should welcome the challenge ahead. But .....
Probable job loss. Going broke. Cant pay bills. Social distancing. Competitive shopping. Anxiety. Not knowing. That's the worst. We know its gonna be bad but how bad? The best people to survive this hard time ahead are ones who just focus on the task in front of them. But Ive always been one who asks hypotheticals...'what if.." Anxiety over the future.
And that makes me ashamed because others are suffering and suffering much worse. What about me? It's all about me. How about asking a different question? What about us? and What about God?
My faith has gone AWOL recently. Yet this is an opportunity rather than a problem. To rely on the One greater than me. If ever there was a time in my life to have faith it is now. Faith that all will be well. Faith that I can handle any situation with His help.
Its so easy to get sucked into the vortex of "poor me" thinking. I am going to try to stay away from that rabbit hole.

Imagine the humiliation of asking a neighbour ..." do you have a spare roll of TP?"

Great questions.
I'm not panicking but I am anxious and I know we shouldn't be.

But right now in the moment you said you are fine so you cannot be anxious and not panic at the same time.

Anxiety is panic so your either panicking right now as you say you are not, or worried about the future.

That's the truth and the way it rolls.

What is your worry?. In the moment is a anxiety panic, where general anxiety is fear of whats to come. Same thing.

What shall we eat?
What shall we wear?
We have more important things to worry about. Isn't that what Jesus said? He's got this.

I don't watch mainstream TV much so but I did watch the news a few days ago and it was all about Covid19.

I am a little concerned for my parents, they need to stop going out so much.

Apart from that im actually very interested in seeing what happens to the economic side of things

anxiety and panic are not the same thing. What i am worried about is the three people I look after. I love them.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

During this pandemic, like all the ones before it, God does not want us to be anxious for anything and live in fear of the "what if's". The "what if's" have no place in a Christians life as one only speculates in there mind fearing the worse that could happen.

Did not God provide water, manna and Quail in the desert when the Israelites were complaining and had nothing to eat or drink in their forty year journey, Exodus chapter 16.

Put your faith and trust in God as there is nothing to fear, but fear itself. I don't worry about anything anymore as I know how God brought me and my husband through when we had nothing.

I refuse to live my life in fear and will go outside and enjoy my life. I have yet to go without anything I need. God is good.

i worry about my parents more than my own health, because this particular pandemic seems to go after the 60+ with a vengeance. :-(

i worry about things getting worse, socially and economically, not better. i kind of live in a bubble, but...frightening, nonetheless.

i am concerned that 'the least of these' will get messed over even more than usual, maybe more so in the US (compared to most developed, affluent nations, we don't have much a safety net, few social programs), and if the economy takes a prolonged hit...

there will be a lot more of 'the least of these,' and a lot more free floating rage and tension. ugh. :-(

i dunno. i don't know how things are elsewhere, but in the US...minimal safety net, lots of people on the edge of nothing, if that...the 'recovery' from the great recession was mostly low wage, unstable jobs...

what, now? will the 1% be willing to take a minor hit to stabilize the economy and society, as a whole? will they get richer off of this, creating an even bigger pool of poor and on the edge of poor people?

-sigh-

I am reminded, however, of a humble carpenter from Nazareth who told us to fret not for the morrow, and that God Himself knows everything about us, even the number of hairs on our heads. And...those who come to believe upon Him and Know Him are part of a Kingdom that is not of this world, and our houses are built on rock, not on sand.

Jesus loves each of us, and He sticks closer than a brother...

even to the end of this age. :-)

Just found out the "what if" today as hubby called and they are shutting down the lumber yard he works at tonight at midnight. It's a mandatory 2 week shut down. At least he can sign up for unemployment and the little money we set aside for vacation this summer will see us through, thank God.

That's one issue, how on earth are people suppose to pay there rent and bills and buy food if they cannot work because there jobs are shut down they have no income. Even many landlords rely on people's rent to pay the mortgage.

No work equals no money, and unemployment welfare ain't going to cover much.

Mandatory no work they should be compensated. People should still be receiving there full wage. Then again that could bust some business. It's a screwed up situation with bans everywhere.

Construction trades are considered "essential services" like food production...

Just like in the states, how long can they keep that up with so many out of work. The cashflow stops when work stops.
