What if divorce is absolutely illegal?

Well, murder is illegal and it hasn't stopped that problem. :)

On a serious note, I think it is both too easy to get married and two easy to get divorced in most places.
"No fault" divorce does not help matters.

It is still a problem of the heart, sad that the rate seems no better inside the church.
I think it goes to show how many "pew warmers" there are vs committed Christians. :shame

You are right. If I try to make it illegal in the States...I know I'd be shot in the head before I'd ever succeed;);):lol

I agree on all counts. I find the idea of 'no-fault' divorce objectionable. It usually means that the 'faulty' party simply gets away with their misdeeds and/or that a marriage breaks down because no one has to bother putting effort into it.

Another option, if divorce was illegal, is that people simply wouldn't get married. Despite my brave words above, I probably wouldn't take the risk.

I think the big question would be, what is the purpose of Christian Marriage versus Government recognized marriage and whether or not they are the same thing.

Well, for the sake of argument, if legal divorce was made illegal, then I guess we would have more "adultery" problems from couples that just don't work together or married to quickly. Though those are either personal or family problems more then social. There might also be legal problems down the road from where people have separated but didn't get the official paperwork from separating.
