What Is Beauty?

Seriously. My mother and I were just discussing this. Why is there such a focus on image today? The way I see it if you're obese that's very unhealthy, but if you're as skinny as as stick that's just as bad if not worse. So how exactly is beauty defined? How does one have the perfect body anyway?

I don't think anyone has a perfect body or a perfect beauty. But then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Part of my list of beauty:-

A new born baby.

A person's face that is shining with joy as they sing to God.

Flowers (favourites peony and a tulip that has opened)

Kittens and full grown cats

Deer

Horses

Blue sky

Snowflakes

Love

Etc etc etc

The perfect body is the one you want, but usually leads to pride of self, taking first place ahead of God. Healthy is the way to go putting Christ first in all that we do. What does that mean to put Christ first? I know, but what do you think it means?

As a two bit entertainer I married three Girls that were eighteen years old because I and the greatest part of American Males were transfixed on youth. In my case it was clearly demonstrated in the three disastrous couplings where God was never present in our lives.

People have tied their wagons to the Fake Horse running straight out of Hollywood. There is love and beauty in this world and it is found in a three person marriage and in the Church today, we have, far two many two person relationships and our failure rate is the failure rate of the world about us.

If you are unequally yoked, as I was, and do not place our Elohim in the middle of that marriage, it has little to no chance of succeeding. If you will put God into your union and both of you work to grow closer to YHWH you will constantly be moving closer to one another.

My wife and I are all wrinkled today but she is still the best looking woman I ever saw. Now don't get me wrong, she still has legs that run all the way from the Ground, plum up to her hinny. Beauty, true beauty is not a product of cosmetics and grooming. That helps the appearance of the package but if she is full of herself, you must live with her insane vanity and that can be, quite, a task to bear minute by minute, day in and day out.

If some gorilla wants to marry a lady for her looks, she needs to run because that is vanity and vanity is a wisp of smoke that can be blown in any direction by the faintest movement of the wind. Beauty must be examined, up close and personally, over time.

To be perfectly one hundred percent honest with you I don't really know the answer to that but as I was stopping to think about it more, I think the perfect body belongs to Christ because it is perfectly holy. So I think that I'm answering my own question when I say that true beauty comes within the body instead of on the body itself.

Ladies, pay attention. Truth bomb...

"let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 5For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves"
1 Peter 3:4-5 NASB

Your husband will be like melted butter in your hands if you are beautiful this way.

Can't argue with that.
He makes all things beautiful.

The most beautiful people I've ever seen are aglow with the Spirit. Even the butt ugly ones.

That's true as I just recently commented on my post, but that makes me think of another question. What exactly is ugly? Why and how do we judge what is beautiful and what is ugly? I personally think it's because the media has brainwashed us with it so we're programmed to judge somebody for the way they look even though we shouldn't.

1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

I'm not really sure what all of those verses mean but,.. I also look at beauty in the fact that we still have God's love and forgiveness when we sin. I mean I've screwed up a lot in my lifetime, but it's really nice to know that since I believe that Jesus loved me enough to save me, I'm going to Heaven anyway. There sure is beauty in that. And just imagine how beautiful Heaven itself will be. :cross

“Beauty,” as it pertains to human attraction, is complex and very subjective. It varies from culture to culture (different norms), within a given culture (variations from the norm), and within a given culture over time (the norm changes). Our own perception of human beauty also changes over time and can be influenced by numerous factors, including those close to us.

Examples of norms are female proportions and both male and female facial features. There are certain facial features of men, such as a square jaw, and women, such as high cheekbones, that make certain people attractive to a majority of people in a culture. In societies where food is scarce, people generally find overweight people attractive (a sign of wealth and ability to provide), whereas in societies where food is in abundance, thinner people are generally considered more attractive. And, of course, it goes beyond merely physical features--personality, wealth (stability and security), etc. These are all things that play on our minds that we are largely unaware of that make us attracted to people.

As I first stated, beauty is a very complex concept and is highly subjective.

:amen Read this. I also believe that beauty comes from having friends as well. That sure is a beautiful thing.

Good answer, To put Christ first is to include Him in everything you do...seek His approval in prayer and fellowship, heeding the will of the Holy Spirit and knowing the difference between His will and yours.

So I think that's basically asking the question what would Jesus do right? And knowing the difference between right and wrong. To be perfectly honest I don't ask myself that question nearly as much as I should because just like any other human being I tend to like doing things my way. I really want to try and change that though because that's exactly what our pastor preached in church today. I wrote about it here at the very bottom.
