You can claim it isn't ....but when you google it many theologians seem to disagree with you.
The Bible agrees with itself.
Here it is, thanks to Malachi:
This is the right order. After sanctification comes perfection and glorification.
GOD BEGINS WITH FOREKNOWLEDGE
For whom he did foreknow,
FOREKNOWLEDGE LEADS TO PREDESTINATION
he also did predestinate
PREDESTINATION LEADS TO PERFECTION
to be conformed to the image of his Son,
PERFECTION MEANS RESEMBLANCE TO CHRIST
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
PREDESTINATION LEADS TO EFFECTUAL CALLING
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called:
EFFECTUAL CALLING LEADS TO JUSTIFICATION
and whom he called, them he also justified:
JUSTIFICATION LEADS TO GLORIFICATION
and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
It is to Scripture we must turn, and not to our "favorite theologians"
But some will ask, "How and when are we sanctified?" (given in context)
1 Thessalonians 5: 20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
.
The point is that sanctification is a dual function, done by Jesus Christ, alone. By using the term, "dual function", I am indicating that sanctification is both at a point (one time, meaning salvation) and it is progressive (ongoing)
The word "wholly" indicates that there is more to sanctification than just the one time we are made holy (NOT the same as "justification", which is a legal term--they are often confused). But because Paul uses a tripartite sanctification (v. 23) of body, soul and spirit we are not now where God wants us to be today; we are better off than we were yesterday.
BTW I post this as edification, and not as a point of contention
