Orthodox Christian,
Christ is in our midst!
I have noticed that. Jesus at His word cannot be trusted and needs clarification under "messianc jew" understanding or a Paul is "da man" understanding. Many in the "Christian faith" appear to trump even the Apostles in the "knowledge of Him".
Is that not all our goals is to have a deeper "knowledge" and understanding of the person "Jesus Christ"?
1,2,3. All scripture is truth. The NT does "serve as a lens" persay of the OT. Yes, the words of Jesus Christ (red bits) are the words we are "commanded to keep" which go hand in hand with the Apostles, Paul, Jude and others.
Every word of the bible is true. Every word of the bible is contained in the Truth. The "pillar and ground of truth" is the Church. The Holy Scripture is a piece of the whole mosaic called "The Church".
The Holy Scripture give in detail the life of the Church, the whole of Scripture is about Jesus Christ.
However as John said not everything about His life was written for we know at minimum He taught for 40 days with no record in the bible. He must have taught something. I believe these teachings are some of the "traditions" the reformation is trying to convince us are evil and not to be followed.
Frankly I do not see how anyone can claim the "fulness of Him" without both "tradition" and "written" knowledge of Him.
There is an interesting Scripture that may take us off topic but it is relevant.
Luke 24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how HE WAS KNOWN of them in breaking of bread.
Jesus Christ is known in the breaking of bread or the Eucharist/Communion it says here. The eye of men are opened to Jesus Christ and the Scriptures in the breaking of bread. Did I get this right?
Can you comment on how Jesus Christ is known in the "liturgical cycle" of the Church?
Your humble servant,
Kyril

These days many, it seems, subjugate the word of Christ to the epistles of Paul on one hand, or the teaching of Torah on the other.

Here is my question for consideration:
Which words are to be trusted above all?
1.All books and verses of the scriptures equally
2.All books of the scripture, with the New Testament serving as the lens through which the Old Testament is viewed
3.All books of the scriptures, with the words of Christ as the pinnacle
4.Some other explanation.

Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
