1. Please vote on whether or not you believe it is necessary to believe in the Trinity to be considered a Christian.

2. Please explain how you understand the Trinity in your own words.

I've found very interesting explanations and I thought it would be a good idea to see how we, as a family-type group understand the Trinity - which is not easy for sure.

Yes, I believe it is necessary to believe in the Trinity if one is to be Christian. If we don't believe Jesus is God, where does that leave us?

Explaining or defining the Trinity is not an easy thing. As I've said before, I believe we would be trying to define a Godly thing using human understanding and I don't know if it is even possible. I've always thought this does a great job of showing it as I understand it.

That's my favorite diagram too.
Thanks WIP.

Could you explain how you understand the Trinity?

This will not be a debate thread.
I understand it as the above image.

Jethro actually had a good analogy using water.

I would never debate the Trinity, because mans small mind can not grasp or even comprehend the Trinity.

There are many things that we will never understand until we are with the Lord.

God the Father
God the Spirit
God the Son

What is your understanding?

Grace and peace to you.

I liked the analogy of the water too because he showed how it could be all 3 forms at the same time.

I came to understand the Trinity by understanding the Word of God and the Spirit of God. The Word as Logos.

The Word or Logos is God's "mind", His very reason. The Spirit is God's "breath".

The Word became man.
But still the 2nd Person remained in God, He was not splintered.

The Holy Spirit Is His life giving force in us.

And I like the diagram WIP posted.

Thanks for posting.

In the unorthodox forum under the thread apostolic faith you will find the creeds that explains the faith of the early church thanks

As a former non trinitarian .

As he stated .you can't logically understand it .

How does God have a son?
How is God three persons and yet one in nature ?

How did one of them die and give up His God nature ?

Maybe @Jethro could post that water analogy again for us? I don't know that I have seen it before.

Water can exist as ice, steam and a liquid and not loose it chemical nature .

Lord funny I passed a we are looking for a water plant operator trainee at work sign . There is more to just pumping water out of a well into your spigot .the chemicals and testing and also cycling the wells, reverse osmosis and adding lime .

It's the triple point of a substance, in this case, water. The triple point of water (or other substances) is where under a certain pressure and at a certain temperature, H20 exists simultaneously as ice, liquid, and vapour.

"The triple point occurs where the solid, liquid, and gas transition curves meet. The triple point is the only condition in which all three phases can coexist, and is unique for every material. Water reaches its triple point at just above freezing (0.1° C) and at a pressure of 0.006 atm."

I happen to know them.
Please post the one you most agree with.
Thanks.

No, I meant could you copy and paste it.

I find that we could learn on this forum.
Some may not know what that is.

No, I don't think it is necessary to believe in the Trinity to be considered a Christian .
But I do think it is necessary to interact on a personal level with the Trinity to be a Christian :).
