I believe Hell is the state of being without Christ, knowing the truth and thirsting for His presence forever.

Rick,

This is the shortest, yet most profound answer I have seen thus far. Can you show some scripture on this? While I can very much agree with what is written in Luke. I think you are on to something a bit deeper.

May God Bless You

Danielle

The first glimpse is in Luke 16:22-31, the rich man now in torment, knowing the truth, begging for just a little water to cool His tongue.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The woman at the well.
John 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: (The water of the world)
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (The living water of Christ)

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Fire = God's judgment
The refiner's fire. (God's judgment)
The unquenchable fire. (God's unchangeable righteousness and judgment)
Vain works burned up. (judged)

Torment. For me I can think of no other regret with as much torment as being separated from Christ knowing I was wrong, rejecting the truth time and time again, day after day and maybe even going as far as to take a stand of worldly opposition against those who believe. People think of physical torment but Christ taught the things of the heart during His ministry. Therefore I believe the distress will be for the heart to bear, forever, knowing one chose the world and not a relationship with our Lord and Savior. He loves us, we love Him. That sounds like a relationship to me.

So how can it be some mytholigial place under gorund where the Devil and his demons live, no such place!
That Jesus mentioned it and warned strongly about not doing the things that will get one there, clearly means he believed it was an actual place. He used gehenna as an analogy for a place where the wicked and unbelieving would go. Whether it is underground or not is irrelevant.
Good we get to the point of a analogy which I agree with, but what analogy?

When any rubbish or dead bodies of criminals where tossed into the valley of Gehenna they where first devoid of any life and were then totally destroyed by the fires that were stoked with sulfer to keep them burning, thus no life or living thing of any kind was to be found there, this is Gehenna a place of total destruction with no hope of life in any from ever again!

Asa Revelation speaks of it as the 2nd Death from which there is no ressurection, thus everlasting death or nothingness!!

Revelation 20:14
This means the second death, the lake of fire.
So, why would God raise non-believers from the dead only to throw them into the lake of fire for eternal destruction? What would the point be? Why not just leave them dead?

If non-believers are annihilated, then why would Jesus warn so strongly? Annihilation makes Jesus' warnings meaningless.

DURING THE 1,000 YRS. THE NON-BELIEVERS FROM THE DEAD WILL BE GIVEN AN OPPERTUNITLY TO LEARN ABOUT GOD & JESUS WITH A VIEW TO THEM BEING SAVED FROM THE 2ND DEATH BY THE RANSOMING BLOOD OF JESUS (MOST OF WHICH NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE GOD OF THE JEWS OR JESUS CHRIST SO THEY WILL HAVE A CHANCE. IT THEY REJECT JESUS ETC. ETC. THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO DIE AGAIN AS DELIBRATLY REJECTING THE CHRIST; THUS ON SALVATION FROM SISN & DEATH AS WITH ALL MANKIND.
