What New Bible Should I get?

I have a KJV, NKJV and the Max Lucado Devotional Bible, I cross reference all three from time to time. I would definitely use a KJV or NKJV and than any other translation you feel like you would like to get would be your choice.

I like the NKJV. The KJV is more lyrical and poetic, but I believe the NKJV captures some of that yet is easy to understand. I have read the entire new testament 5 or 6 times in each version (if not more), and I think the NKJV is a faithful rendering. The NLT can be very helpful, but is paraphrased and not good for study. The NASB is also a good version, but I personally find it a little too dry.

Some people think it is the spawn of the devil, but I also like the Amplified Version. What it does is it puts in parentheses (sp?) expanded meanings of the greek and hebrew words. As a result, it is not quick reading, but very good for study. Please do check it out.

God bless you and Merry Christmas!

I dont like the amlified verson as it takes on verse and makes a paragraph out of it.

I learn how to understand old english via the hs when i read the kjv. This enabled me to read Thomas Paine's Common Sense in old english. The only word i never seen before was this one, viz.

I'm looking to get a new bible and or a couple of different versions to compare. I have the NLT now but I would like to cross reference it. The KJV is hard for me to get with the old english, so I was wondering about how close the NKJV is to it? What version would you all recommend? Thanks guys.
Get a 4 version Parallel Bible...theyre everywhere.
My wifes has the NIV/NASB/KJV/NLT
I dont like a couple of those much, but they do help when youre trying to get the overall intent of a given passage.
