What power is there in prayer?

Careful: when the Christian Believer stop believing they reject Jesus. The #1 sin in the bible is unbelief!

8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.†Revelation 21:8

23 “‘If you can’?†said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.â€

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief![/]â€

OK everybody! Today is the big day and it starts at 1pm today EST.

I can tell my son doesn't have the self esteem or drive. Last week's loss has really gotten him down. Thursday's practice was lousy.. his heart wasn't even into it. He had a light practice yesterday before weigh in's and he's already making excuses.

I've tried to be an encouragement for him this week but last week's loss with MMWA really took him down a few notches. After an entire year of wrestling practice, he's doubting he can qualify for State for MYWAY.

We have prayed several times this week that he qualifies for State at today's tournament and we had a good talk last night. My wife is such a blessing because she reminded him that we can't doubt our prayers. We have to believe them.

I still find myself in the situation of "I believe, but help me with my unbelief". I am trying to overcome it, but it's not easy. I want to be confident that our prayer will be answered today, but that little sliver of doubt is always right there.

For anyone who reads this before 1pm EST or shortly after, I'd ask for your prayers in that I will loose my doubt, and that my son will qualify for State and regain some self esteem.

Thanks.

Thank you Edward!

I've read Mark 9 over a few times this morning and it's really helping me see how Jesus doesn't want us to waiver.

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus

It's almost as if he's insulted. "If you can?" Like, you doubt what I can do? Stop doubting!

I need to stop focusing on the "If you can" because it's what's driving the "Help me with my unbelief".

Amen, Jeff. Edward posted a really good piece of advice there. It's good to get understanding. Sometimes I have to have others point out where I can find it. God bless you both, and keep up the work of supporting others. :thumbsup

I remembered your son earlier today while I was waiting at a bus stop. So I said a prayer for your family. I'll continue doing so.
Best of luck to your son for today's tournament!

Thank you everyone for your prayers! Thank you God!
He placed 4th and that qualifies him for State! Woo hoo! God is good!

Oh, and I have to add that the deck was stacked against us. Our coach got sick and had to go home and the other coach went home... Because my son wrestled after all the younger kids there was only one other kid from our club wrestling. Basically, we wrestled without a coach today. And if I can brag, it's some of the best wrestling I've seen my son do. The two losses were tight. He lost by one point to the first kid and lost by two points to the second kid. Tough kids and tough matches and the fact that we didn't have a coach didn't bother us, because we knew God was with him, and we only prayed that he made it to state, and God answered our prayers.

Congratulations, here is how it again comes out that there is a true God, and as usual His victory is in a modest way

Blessings
