Complacency. Apathy. -These are the greatest downfalls of the 'lukewarm' church. "We are increased with goods, and have need of nothing," as the Scripture so rightly says.

So what does God do with a country like America today? -A country that has historically been a "Land of Revivals" but is now addicted to "consumerism" en masse. A country that for the first time since the Great Depression now has a NEGATIVE savings rate - because its people are so enamoured with owning "things" - even if they can't afford them. A country whose people are indebted to their eyeballs and beyond - so they can keep up the lifestyle of ease to which they have grown accustomed.

What does God do with an America that has grown too fat to pray?

Is anybody "desperate" any more? Where are those who cry to God from their gut - from the bottom of their heart? Where are the agonies and tears? Has America forgotten what kind of prayer it takes to obtain an Awakening? If we can't pray like that any more, then surely all is lost?

But just how 'desperate' are things really, you ask? Things aren't so terrible, surely?

Well, the fact is that this nation's sin right now is utterly unmatched in her entire history. Has there ever been a generation of Americans that has killed 40 million babies in just 30 years? No, such a thing is UNPRECEDENTED. And has there ever been an American generation that has not only CELEBRATED homosexuality - but actually helped broadcast and spread it around the earth? No, such a thing has never been seen before. Forty years ago it would have been undreamt-of.

(-God reserves for these particular types of sin the term, "Abominations" - and historically any nation practicing them has been utterly destroyed).

Has there ever been an American generation that has addicted the whole earth to soft porn and violence the way that Hollywood has done in the last 40 years? No, again this is UNPRECEDENTED in history. (The center of the worldwide pornography industry is located just outside Los Angeles).

Has there ever been an American generation whose preachers go on satellite television and teach other leaders in 'Revival' countries how to "milk" the sheep for money, and grow rich at the expense of the poor? No, I tell you, America has NEVER done this before. Our TV preachers are now actually being used by the devil to corrupt true moves of God all over the globe. (Go to Nigeria, Ghana, Brazil and see what I mean. American "Prosperity" is everywhere - and still spreading).

At this very moment America is hanging in the balances. God is making up His mind what to do with her. And yet still complacency rules. -Still no "desperate" prayer. Apathy covers us like a blanket. Will you sleepwalk your way to destruction, America?

Years ago a famous preacher commented that if God did not judge America, then He would have to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah. I am not sure that it was true then, but I certainly believe it is true now. We are at the crisis point.

In the last 40 years, in every way we have become the most sick, selfish, greedy, corrupt, sin-addicted generation that America has ever produced. And now judgment hangs over the land like a sword.

Where are those who "sigh and cry" at the abominations in the land? Where are those like righteous Lot whose soul was "tortured" day after day by all that he saw and heard? Are there none who will cry to God with strong weeping and tears?

There is no tragedy in the world worse than this - the church losing the gospel. We could have a hundred terrorist attacks, or earthquakes, or hurricanes, and it would still not outweigh the tragedy of this one thing - WE HAVE LOST THE GOSPEL. Nothing can compare to this disaster - nothing.

For when you lose the gospel, you lose salvation. People are actually no longer becoming saved. (Remember, Paul said that the gospel is the "POWER OF GOD unto salvation"). And when people are no longer truly becoming saved, you also lose the church. For no true gospel = no true church.

People will tell me that I am being too "drastic". Well, I want to say to you that I am not being drastic enough. In fact, if I were to shout through 1000 megaphones directly into your ears, it would not be possible for me to overemphasize just how disastrous and awful and horrific it is that our backslidden Western church today has - to all intents and purposes - lost its gospel. And in doing so it has lost its very reason for being.

We tell everybody that all they need to do is say a little rote prayer accepting Jesus as their "personal savior". Tell me, where is such a thing in Scripture? Does such a thing even come close to existing? Can you recall even ONE person doing such a thing to become a Christian in the Bible? Did any of the Apostles in Acts ever say to someone, "Just repeat this little prayer after me"? Or "Quietly slip up your hand - no need for anyone to see"? Can you remember ANYONE in Scripture doing anything like that?

No, you can't. That is because nobody ever did. It is all a modern fabrication - a complete invention. -This is no salvation at all. We act like people can safely forget about CONVICTION of sin and DEEP REPENTANCE and WATER-BAPTISM and getting FILLED with the Holy Spirit. -Just "optional extras", eh? But look at 'Acts' and tell me - was there ever such a thing as real Christianity with- out these things? And what about getting a CLEAN CONSCIENCE (-washed in the blood) and KEEPING IT CLEAN? Are we ever told how to walk in THAT today?? -To actually "walk" in the washing of the blood of Jesus? To be clean, to be utterly "Clean", to be EVERY WHIT CLEAN?? (-The most important thing in the world). Where is this in our gospel? Where is the transformed life? Where is the "FREEDOM" from sin?

We have lost it all. Our people very rarely repent. They often go for years without baptism (-meaning, according to Romans 6, that their "old man" is not yet dead - and so they simply cannot live a new life in Christ). Read Romans 6 sometime and ask yourself this question- "If I have not been baptized, then is my old life "buried" with Christ or not? Is my 'old man' dead or not?" -This is why the apostles always baptized people RIGHT AWAY.

And then we often fail to get people 'FILLED' with the Spirit straight away too - let alone "walking" in the Spirit. Tell me, how are we supposed to have 'HOLINESS' if we have not even been filled with the "HOLY" Spirit? Why do you think that the apostles always made sure that people became Spirit-filled RIGHT AWAY??

Most of us do not even have "Day One" Christianity as it was in the Bible. We have lost the gospel and we don't even know it. We have invented a gospel of 'convenience', a gospel without the cross, a gospel without holiness or the power to live a Christian life. -A gospel that shows no-one how to get a CLEAN CONSCIENCE or how to WALK IN IT. I want to say to you that such a gospel is NO GOSPEL AT ALL. And we should be ashamed of ourselves for preaching such a travesty.

No wonder today's church is lukewarm! The gospel is the building block upon which everything else is built. Without it we have nothing - literally nothing. It affects all that we do and all that we are. To lose it is simply the worst disaster imaginable. So how on earth can we get it back?

Well, we have spoken about "Revival" many times on this site. But what a lot of people don't realize is that the 'RETURN OF THE GOSPEL' was often the key that brought about the Great Awakenings - the GOSPEL being restored and preached in power. The longest-lasting Revivals always involved the "RETURN OF THE GOSPEL". That is precisely what was happening with the preaching of Wesley, Finney, Whitefield, etc. And it has to happen again today!

So "Revival" to me is far more than just a fleeting visitation. It is to be the long-lasting restoration of the true gospel - and thus the true church also. If we want true Christianity restored today, we must first see THE GOSPEL restored. It is the most important key to it all. O God, send such a Revival! BRING BACK THE GOSPEL and those who will PREACH IT! O God, we cry out to you in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

anyway.. I have felt that the USA will not make it until the End Times but I has close friends that believe we will.. I do believe that if we don't make it, it will be because our support of Israel will have dwindled and God will have.. well.. lost support for us also.. in a way.. Much like He seemed to have done through Katrina.. I'm sure there is a thread discussing how Katrina hits just as the last of the Jews on the gaza strip.. ramble.. [/end] anyway.. you get it..

Hi turnorbourn. I haven't checked out "End Times/Bible Prophecy" for a few days.

While, I certainly agree with you, that the USA is ever increasing as a secular/humanist nation, I understand that God is silent during this present administration of His. He is not going to bring a disaster upon the USA, or the other nations, for that matter, to punish us for our sins now. There will be terrible plagues and judgments fall upon mankind and the earth in the future: in the last half of the tribulation, as described in prophecy.

There have been natural disasters causing death and destruction for thousands of years. If my memory is right, I remember reading of a gigantic earthquake in China, that killed tens of thousands of people. And, did this turn them to seek God ? Not as far as I can see.

In the OT, Israel and then Judah, went into gross idolatry, and did evil in the sight of the Lord.
The Lord sent phrophets and preachers, warning them over and over that terrible judgments will come from the Lord unless they repented and humbled themselves before the Lord. Oh, there were a few good kings that led the people back to the Lord, such as Josiah, but in the end, they again worshipped pagan gods. And, they are now scattered throughout the world, though many have returned to the present Israel.

But, I believe that the USA will be apart of the nations that will, in the tribulation, unite to hate Israel and march against Jerusalem after being assembled in Armageddon.

Now, I agree, the gospel, the good news that Christ died for our sins, and that by believing in Him are we saved, needs to be preached from every pulpit, from every street corner. For as Paul writes in Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek." KJV.

As for Romans 6:1ff, Paul is telling us that we believers in Christ are baptized (immersed) into Christ's death, burial and resurrection. That is, we are identified with him in His death, burial, and resurrection, such that we should walk in newness of life. We have died with Christ.
This is done by the Spirit; it has nothing to do with water. 1 Cor.12:13 says "For in one Spirit also we all are baptized into one body..." CV. See Also 2 Cor. 5:14.

Because we are now new creations (new men) in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17), God reckons our "old man" to be crucified with Christ, and so we too should reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God.

As for "being filled with the spirit", believers can not be "helped" to be filled. Paul does write in Ephesians 5:1ff, that in our walk, we should "not be drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit." Also we are admonished to not "quench" the Spirit (1 Thes. 5:19), nor "grieve" the Spirit (Eph. 4:30).

Amazing as it is, we are told the Holy Spirit which dwells within us, helps us in our infirmities, making intercession for us with groans that words cannot express.

So, it is a daily walk, to reckon ourselves dead to sin, but alive to God. And, if all believers lived this way, then the message of hope would be broadcast to the whole world even more.

The other site I have some major issues with. They seem to believe that A christian has to be perfect or he is not saved. In the first place, how does one determine that? I really don't think they understand the new birth. We must remember a new convert probably don't understand the Bible that well. You see, the problem is that many don't renew their minds or don't even know how to. As far as being saved, it is our recreated spirits that are saved. The rest is up to us. The mind is our soulish area, and then we have the flesh that does the sinning. And this is why we must line up our souls and flesh with our spirits.

Folks, we have many hurting Christians out there and some want to beat them up. We mature Christians should do our best to disciple them and not beat them up. What is a true Christian anyway? I am not the judge and besides that, the Bible tells us to examine ourselves and not others.

know that Jesus is perfect. The scriptures teach if we be in Christ we are a new creation,

ok. We will never be perfect until we obtain our glorified bodies. We should always work towards perfection not to be perfect.. But to be pleasing in our Creator's eyes. (question: Does God REALLY have eyes? hmm.. Jesus does.. But what about God the Father?... )

I say no just because the USA is never mentioned in the Bible. The Bible talks about the earth being round even before it is believed it was. It talks about stars being uncountable and during that day and age the people believed that there was only a certain number of stars.. Surely God would have put a mention of "new land" "strange earth" something like that in the End Times thing..

Let me try to explain my views about the New Birth. We see in Mark 7:21-23 where Jesus said the trouble is in the heart, the inward man, the spirit. This is why we need to be born again. The new biirth is the rebirth of the human spirit. The real man is spirit. Jesus said in John 3:4, 6 That which is born of flesh is flesh; annd that which is born of the SDpirit is spirit. So, we have our recreated spirits.

I do not have an opinion what will happen to the USA in these last days. But, I believe eventually the USA will be under the rule of the anti-christ and false prophet. I will not be here when this happens, as I believe in the rapture of the Church.

About this rapture theory, isn't it on the order of the evolutionary theory?

Can anyone guess who has focused for more than 35 years on the 178-year-old history of the pretribulation rapture view? It is journalist/historian Dave MacPherson. (No one else has ever claimed to have spent 35 months or even 35 weeks researching the same topic.) He discovered that pretrib was never a part of any Christian theology or organized church before 1830. His many web articles include "The Real Manuel Lacunza" (who didn't teach pretrib), "Deceiving and Being Deceived" (showing that the claims for Pseudo-Ephraem and Morgan Edwards are also wishful thinking), "Pretrib Rapture Diehards" (all of the earliest pretrib promoters admitted in the 1830's that pretrib was THEN a brand-new teaching that hadn't been known before!), "Revisers of Pretrib Rapture History" (even noted pretrib writer Grant Jeffrey now admits on his site that MacPherson's historical research has caused "many" [Jeffrey's term] to abandon pretrib), "The Rapture Index (Mad Theology)," and "Famous Rapture Watchers." Sites like Tribulation Central and Powered by Christ Ministries carry many of Dave's articles. Dave's No. 1 bestselling book on this fascinating topic is "The Rapture Plot" (see Armageddon Books online), the research of which has gotten many kudos from leading evangelical scholars (Google "Scholars Weigh My Research"). This may come as a surprise but on your finger pad note; Christ came the first time that is

Well, obviously Mr. MacPherson did not look in the correct places, for there is ample evidence for the pre-trib viewpoint in the writings of Eusebius[sp?], Hippolytus, and several other sources from ones that were 1st or 2nd generation from the Apostle John, and are really not that hard to find. Also, if one will look at the Scriptures even without any external information, the pre-trib Rapture is plainly laid out for one. But, then again, seeing this in Scriptures is reliant on Holy Spirit's guidance and at least a smattering of knowledge of Jewish traditions and customs. I do admit that there are some Scriptures that many use as indicators of the Rapture that are definitely not pointing to the Rapture, but the Second Coming. For a quick example, the 24 Elders in Rev. 5:8 plainly represent the Body according to their descriptions. The error many make is lumping the Body up with Israel, or the Tribulation saints; and this is error, for these plainly have a place/station/office that is not the same as the Body.

The US does not figure into endtime prophecy and is not mentioned in Scripture; so therefore, is either taken out at the time of Ez. 38, or totally crippled by the Rapture itself. Also,the theories/conspiriacies that the US is Babylon in the Revelation is pure speculation and has no basis in the Scriptures, whatsoever. Matter of point, this nation is on the verge of destruction as it stands at this time in history, for it has thoroughly displeased Father in it's constant whoring around, and He will not stand for this at all; and when you factor in the meddling in Israel trying to divide His Land and His City; only His Mercy, and the fact that He does have faithfull here still,
has stopped Him from destroying the US before now. This nation is operating on borrowed time, and this time will very soon run out, much sooner than most of the US public think. For when they cry,'Peace and safety, sudden destruction comes upon them.' 'Watch, therefore, and keep your garments; for you do not know the day the Master will return.'[paraphrases mine]

That's not the point here this post is a wake up call, whether she is in bible Prophecy
doesn't matter, what matters is that God has her in his sites for judgment. The rapture
is another one, what better way for Satan to send up a meaningless smokescreen?

out what Jesus wants, its easy to find out. What is the great commission, and if I have

America has been and is just like all the other great empire that came and went with the passing of time; only the kingdom of God will last forever.....this is where our mind should be at.....this is what I look forward to every single day.

You need to do a little more Bible study on this topic in order to understand what I mean; by the way the State of Israel will be defeated some time before the return of Jesus. Don't put your trust in mortal man, but put your confidence in God and His never ending kingdom. The state of Israel is not the kingdom of God, and scriptures have shown that God allowed the House of Israel, to be defeated and captured and used as slaves, because of their disobedience. Also remember, these are the same people who reject Jesus as the Son of God. And just in case you’re not aware, the Jews or the State of Israel, are not the House of Israel. The Jews are only one of the Tribes of which there were 12; the Jews are of the tribe of Judah.
