What Would You Do

That is actually a pretty good assessment of the situation. Between the American dollars and economy and the sheer volume of food grown as well as other commodities we may have 25% of the world population but 2/3 of the groceries and world economy comes from this nation.
It's rather obscene as to the variety of foods and jobs we have here...and the ease to survive in this nation by comparison to other places. The median standard of living here is easy enough to obtain by far comparison to places like Brazil, Honduras, or Europe and that standard is luxurious by comparison.

At midnight i can go out and get some ice cream...I don't even have to travel to anywhere but a kilometer away. And it won't be expensive either. Maybe 1/32 of a Day's wages. (If that much) and it's top quality stuff too. I'll drive my full size truck, car, SUV there and purchase it. No big deal...no little car like is popular in all other countries.

We Yanks don't even know half of the luxury we have anymore. So when our politicians reflect this it's kinda obvious.
I get screamed at by people that have never lived outside this nation when I say this but the Bum under the bridge is among the top five or ten percent of the richest people in the world. All Americans are rich! i.e. When I arrived in south Vietnam, the average person made about six dollars a year. I was making just under four hundred, Base Pay, and fifty-five for being in Vietnam and fifty-five more a month for flying in my helicopter.

As a people, we have no idea because the LORD has so blessed this people.

Yes, but we as serious Christians must always remember not to compromise our faith for anyone or anything.
Live our lives in such a way that we are ready to defend and proclaim the Gospel whenever possible.
Aren't we compromising our faith when voting for liberals??
And yet many see no problem with this.
Isn't ideology everything when voting?

Shouldn't we all be the church?
OK...
Our country made me think of our govt.
Not all want to witness. Some are never presented with this idea. Some feel they can't. Some feel they don't want to because it isn't their place.
The number one responsibility rests with the church.
Jesus sent out the Apostles in
Mathew 28, not everyone who believed in Him.

Actually neither political party is great for ideology. Republicans tend to be harder on the environment and consuming limited resources even though the EPA is a regulatory authority that was created by the Republicans. (We only have one planet)
Also Republicans tend to be harsher on the poor...less forgiving of repeated poor choices than Democrats.
They also tend to be more brutal when dealing with other nations. (Which is why other countries prefer Democrats)
And then they also believe that the rich people create jobs.
Of course the Democrats have their known fleas as well... abortion and unholy marriages and infringement of rights. They believe that the poor people create jobs and that rich abuse the poor by profiting off of the Poor's labor.

Neither party has the moral high ground these days. Both are equally morally bankrupt. Both sides are slowly succumbing to mob rule as what tends to happen with Democracy. Instead of telling us and doing what we really need they do and tell what we want to hear and see.

John, I very much agree with your last paragraph.
What concerns me more than anything else right now is the social agenda. It saddens me to see the govt upholding such moral decay. It's one thing if individuals do what they feel free to do, it's totally different if the govt condones it and declares it legitimate.

I make a generalized statement and you want to break it down into 100 parts.
I'm a simple man.
I don't have what it takes to do stuff like that.
Maybe I shouldn't be on this forum.

You have the stuff it takes, you just don't want to.
Do you think it's mainly the churches' job to teach about God?

I lean left, largely because of up-bringing, but I'm not dedicated to either party. The Democrats basically want to chart a course more like canada, countries in western europe, australia, etc., one in which we'd have gov't funded health plan, more+higher taxes on the upper class + corporations, more of a safety net+social programs, fewer people in prison and/or jail, more environmental protections, and...of course...they're also (now) staunchly pro-choice and all about some legally recognized same sex unions. back in the day, there were dems who weren't so gung ho about abortion.

Actually...clinton wasn't, back when politics weren't so polarized. remember "abortion should be safe, legal, and RARE," anyone? Yeah...that was Hilary, in the late 90s. Clinton Democrats/"New Democrats" are a lot like the Republicans were back in the 50s or so. Bernie Sanders is more like a 1930s, "new deal" democrat. Things have turned so right wing that now Hilary is able to pass herself off as "progressive" and Sanders is considered "radical" and "socialist."

The GOP is more social darwinist, to me, anyway. Fewer social programs, privatization of government services, more punitive legal system, fewer environmental protections, lower taxes on the upper class and corporations, etc. Many in the GOP talk about being against abortion, but...hey, Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton happened in 1973. They haven't made any real progress in lowering abortion rates in nearly 50 years. Many in the GOP are against same sex unions, but then again...gay men, on average, are more affluent than comparable heterosexual men, so it seems that some in the GOP are trying to soften up in their approach. Money talks, ideology walks...

CE,
The truth about Big Money and politics blows your entire premise. The big money people are Democrats and alwys have been. Soros, much richer that Donald, is acking HRC ecause she is bought and paid for by him and his buds. You have got to go below the surface of thing to see the structure. And it has been reported that 20% od her campaign has been paid for by arabs, not in America.

The elites who run things have 2 different views of where the country should be going. You have the Koch brothers, who are inspired by Ayn Rand...

...and then you have the Democrat rich people, who want to take the edge off capitalism and provide more stuff for the masses.

Of the two parties,I go for Democrats. Yes, they work for the super rich, but they're all about keeping things more stable by throwing more scraps to the masses, building up infrastructure, bringing back some degree of upward mobility, etc.

See the bolded and italicized. The creates the standard dual class system, the very thing the world has, forever, fought against. In it you and I become the Slaves of the Upper Class. Very bad idea!
