Remember the Gospel commission which Jesus Christ gave ?

Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...."

Hardly ever hear anything about the 'Sermon on the Mount', these days, how come ?

Light unto the world?

We are far too busy trying to be the light of the other light.
I hate to admit it....but that's true.
Maybe we should pray that God will wake us up ?

That's something we should be praying for from the start.
The GREATEST need right now, is to pray to be ready for Jesus Christ's return.

Very, Very, Very, few will make it when Christ returns as Scripture says....

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Jesus even asked the QUESTION......
Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Jay, revelations tells us that the church will be in dire straights when Christ returns. However, until His return, we are to be vigilent in our service to him, and pray for revival nonetheless.

I was thinking about the book of Revelation the other day. How it describes this beast that manages to overcome the saints, and how power was given to it.

Ya know what? God does not stop being God. The Word of God is not just in good working order up until this beast shows up. All of the power of the Holy Spirit is still available. Prayer will still work just as it always has.

What is not working here in the last days is faith. Complacent Christians who shoulda, coulda, woulda stopped the beast from existing, and from coming into power, sat back and did nothing to keep it from happening.

Rev. 6 speaks of the four horsemen "and power was given"Rev 9:3 ...locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power...
Rev 13:4-7 ... they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast... and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months. ... And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

It was not God who gave this power. The power was given to this beast by a church that lacks knowledge of who the beast is and what the beast is doing. The power was given to the beast simply through the complacency of the church. The church has deligated all of its authority over to welfare systems and law enforcement agencies. The gospel message will continue, but it will be done by those ministries who are out there being the hands and feet on the body of Christ. The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few.

This happened during the Dark Ages, when the Roman Catholic church killed some 50-150 million Christians.
The Beast power will do the same thing again, during the Great Tribulation period......BUT it is during the Great Trib. that true Christians will witness for God, as NEVER before, in all human history !!!

Ya know what? God does not stop being God.
You're right !
History has proven in the past, that God is most glorified, when HIS people are under persecution.
Their fait shows as bright as the sun.
The truths they hold shines MUCH brighter against the darkness of religious errors.
The Word of God is not just in good working order up until this beast shows up. All of the power of the Holy Spirit is still available. Prayer will still work just as it always has.
OH....SO TRUE !

What is not working here in the last days is faith. Complacent Christians who shoulda, coulda, woulda stopped the beast from existing, and from coming into power, sat back and did nothing to keep it from happening.
THEN...you do realize that it is Christians, who have the ability to STOP the Great Tribulation from happening (at least any time soon) ?
Rev. 6 speaks of the four horsemen "and power was given"Rev 9:3 ...locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power...

You know more than you are telling ?

The power was given to the beast simply through the complacency of the church. The church has deligated all of its authority over to welfare systems and law enforcement agencies. [quote:e14f3]So far, so good....don't stop now !
[quote:e14f3]
The gospel message will continue,
NOTHING can stop it...as it is God's will that the Gospel message will continue, until the end !

but it will be done by those ministries who are out there being the hands and feet on the body of Christ. The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few.
[/quote:e14f3][/quote:e14f3]Those who are willing to sacrifice their time and money, to the cause of Christ, will support the Gospel, in whatever path it leads.

*Gasp* Something we actually agree on! (OK, so we do agree on a little more than this I think...)

I think I myself am guilty far too much sometimes of my thoughts clinging to this earth. I mean, I'm getting married in October so it's really easy to fix your eyes on earthly things. We should be joyfully awaiting the return of our Lord. Far too often our sinful flesh wants to fixate on things here on earth or statan plants that seed of doubt and fear that if the Lord returned tomorrow, you wouldn't be one of the saved...

Lord Jesus Christ, you came once to take on human flesh and blood, to live and die in my place. You are coming again to judge the world and bring eternal life to all who belong to you. Help me to prepare my heart for your coming again. Work in me through your Holy Spirit, that I may sorrow over my sins and turn away from them. Forgive me for the wicked things that I have done. Do not count against me the good things that I have left undone. When my heart grows anxious and worried by the things of this life, remind me that you have prepared an eternity that cannot be compared with this world. Finally, give me the confidence that I have been clothed in your righteousness and washed in your blood. When you come again, I will not be ashamed but will rejoice that I bear your name. Amen.

edited: JayT, Since you aren't God, why not try and not judge whether or not someone will be ashamed in the last days.

QUESTION: In Jesus Christ's Great Gospel commission.......

Did Jesus ever mention anything, about Sunday worship services, in honor of his resurrection ?

Just an aside...this is the Ministry forum, not theology. If you would like to discuss the theologies of the day of worship do it else where please.

Not a plan on my part at all Blazin. I'm just trying to find out why i've been told i'll be ashamed of my Lord when he returns.

You don't consider the 'Everlasting Gospel' a ministry ?

The 7th day sabbath, just happens to be part of the Everlasting Gospel message (Revelation 14:6,7).

Blazin Bones said:
The Gospel, yes, Day of the Sabbath, not so directly. By the way, your text never mentions a seventh day Sabbath.
Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Had me fooled too.

When I think of the term Gospel Commission, it brings to mind things like reaching the lost for Jesus Christ, meeting the needs of widows and orphans, praying for the sick to be healed, the lame to walk and the blind to see, setting captives free.

You are correct...the Gospel is all that AND MORE....

The 'Sermon on the Mount' is the Gospel....in all its varied forms.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Tell me...how may people do you know that have been persecuted for helping the widows.....the poor....the sick ?

Persecution, comes from doing this:

33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked [man], thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
33:10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins [be] upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
33:11 Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die,

Persecution, always comes from trying to warn people of their danger...of living a life of sin....which is...included in the Great Gospel commision, by Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18,19).

Look at the lives of the Prophets, in ther Biblical record.
May were killed, because they were doing what the Lord told them to do.
