What's the best way?

Ok. To start with, I am not overweight, but I still want to lose fat. I'm just under 5'5 and I weigh about 112 lbs. That's actually the most I've ever weighed in my life. The problem is, a lot of that weight is in my stomach and whenever I have any food in my stomach at all, I look like I'm 5 months pregnant. My husband brought it to my attention, and he really does not want me to end up with a gut. He isn't mean to me, he just wants me to take care of it before it becomes a real problem. I'm going to start excersising tomorrow, but what I want to know, is that really going to work? Is there a specific excersise that i should be doing? The only place that needs work is my stomach.

Do some pregnancy tests. Also, not all pregnancy tests are 100% accurate and do check with a doctor.

I second what Felix says. As much as I bash medical science, they are good for some things such as diagnosing what is wrong by using tests. From there you can decide on the treatment keeping in mind that many (not all) pills and other drugs are just symptom relievers and do not find a cure --- you may have to go natural for that. All this is if to say you think that your pooch is abnormally large (to rule out something under there)

As for your weight, 112 pounds at 5'5" is nowhere near fat despite where its concentrated, so maybe the first step is to get off the "I'm too fat" delusional bandwagon --- these are the same people who would limit your salt, your fat, your meat and anything else that makes life enjoyable in exchange for bland oatmeal and cardboard tofu and while you are at it, tell you to exercise like crazy and drink purified water until you drop. That's their idea of "healthy" and I guess the fact that they die sooner does not fit into their definition of health (or lack thereof). :lol

It sounds like you are young, I am 54 years old and have been walking with the Lord for 30 years. I pray that you let yourself gain a few pounds as you get older, it's natural and actually helpful in fighting disease as we age.

I was thin when I got married, and when I turned 30 I started to gain a little weight... That's when I got on the diet roller coaster and my food addiction kicked in.

After years of dieting and failing and then finding another diet, I looked at my huge collection of diets and finally asked God for wisdom... He gave me this Scripture.

Hebrews 13:8-9 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.

As I sat there surrounded by my vast collection I realized how much of my thought life had been occupied with food, dieting, weight... Well, that was my first inclination that it was time to open my Bible and ask God how to diet. That led me to write a diet Bible study. It is on Amazon... It's called Flowers Over the Wall. If you have a Kindle it's free. You can also download the Kindle version on your PC for Free.

You will be amazed at how many Scriptures speak of dieting and food.

Love, Kelli

I really started to address my physical condition about 7 years ago. In the process, I worked with several trainers. A consistent message from them was "spot loss" doesn't work. You can't lose body fat in a certain area (and I know you're not "fat"). People are predisposed to gain weight in certain sections of their bodies, like the stomach or thighs. When people gain weight, the add-ons go to particular places first and disproportionately.

But you can help with the gut by strengthening the muscles. "Planks" are much more effective that sit-ups because the muscles used to hold the gut in are strengthened with them. I hate... HATE planks (about 1 minute intervals), but I believe they are productive.

Be blessed in your efforts, but don't obsess with it; not that you are. It doesn't define you. :)
