What's The Worst That Can Happen?

Alright I realize right away how this is going to sound. AKA rude and rebellious,.. and even though it actually is the latter, I really sincerely hope that it doesn't sound rude because trust me it isn't supposed to be. Anyways, usually around supper time everybody sort of does their own thing and sits wherever they want to.



The only time we really sit together at the dinner table as a family is when we have company over and that's when the rule no devices at the dinner table comes into play. Now on one hand I can understand having that rule there because socalization is very important and all those stories that I hear about texting one another under the same roof in exactly the same room is completely ridiculous if you ask me, and it's rude if somebody tries to talk to you and ignore them, but here's the thing, unless I tell them to give me a second,



nine times out of ten I can talk to somebody irl and talk to somebody on here or roleplay.me at exactly the same time. So that's where I have to ask what's the big deal? As long as people use their manners and talk to people as well, I say that around my own dinner table when I have my own appartment devices will be allowed, and if they start acting rude then and only then will they not have that right anymore.



Don't get me wrong, I realize that until that time I have to live by the rules of the house, but seriously , what's the worst that can happen?

When I am engaged in a conversation with another person, probably the most annoying thing they can do is begin to pay attention to other things such as looking at the phone, texting, talking to another person, looking off in another direction, and so on...

It is very rude. Essentially, the message I get is they are bored and not interested in what I have to say and often times when that happens I am inclined to just stop talking and walk away. I am also concerned that they won't hear everything and if there is something important being expressed they may not get it.

The same is true for interruptions. This happens a lot at work and it irritates the daylights out of me. I'll be talking to someone and others come by and just butt in and interrupt the conversation as if their needs are more important. Very rude and inconsiderate.

If I was face-to-face with you in a discussion, I wouldn't let anything interfere. If my cell phone rings, I press the power button to silence it. I ignore my phone's text message notifications. They can leave a message so I can call them back later or they can try again later.

It used to be ladies first, everyone sits at the table, no one leaves the table untill everyone is finished, and no devices.

Now it's everyone for themselves. Everytime I eat I must go last even if I am a guest. It's written in my DNA. I don't feel right unless I eat last.

Sister, it is pretty rude. You may be able to walk & chew bubble gum at the same time so don't see the harm in it, but it can be taken rudely because it sends the message that what you are doing is more important than they are to you.

Now given your display of having a heart here on the forum, I can presume that such is not the case with you. You have a good heart and know that no offense is intended to them...but they might not know it! So if you want to send a good message to them, shut it off and come sit by them and look them in the eye when you're conversing with them, act interested. This will make them feel good.

If I may,I can walk ,read meters and must do so at times while not stopping. It can be done. I'm not seeing the idea of the cell phones at the table but I can look like I'm listening and ignore you.a married learns these things. Sometimes arguing if you are right means just play along, look sorry but inside you know you were right.

I've never seen anyone use a phone when at the dinner table. It would be hurtful for most people, it sends a message of disinterest in the folk you are sat with. It would cut you out of the conversation altogether. It brings a funny picture to my mind- 6 people sat at the dinner table, one is texting one is reading a newspaper, another is looking out of the window, next one is watching tv, one is sat there yawning and the poor host is wishing he'd invited 5 other people. Looks like they don't like each other

I see your point there lol that is funny,.. but who even reads the newspaper anymore for one? And for two, if I'm not on my laptop may Samsung tablet is what I use to communicate online.

Get married, you will observe it first hand. For someone reason despite the obvious a female wont admit error and will argue to perdition comes .a man knows this and let's you think you won to save his peace of mind and while you argue why he Is wrong he will keep quiet and knows otherwise and appear to be in agreement.

I learned that fine art years ago.

Case In point argued over flip flops while gardening .wife didn't listen ,trips gets stitches and I said preventable if you wore proper foot wear. Silly me I didn't know these things .

Still wore them until last week
Finally got shoes for gardening .but meh I was wrong.

Now that, was one of the mistakes I made during my 1st marriage! Play along to keep the peace...

BTW, First ingredient for a happy marriage: If you're arguing, and it turns out that you are right....Apologize at once!

Ponder that for a little while. I know it "sounds wrong" at first...but if you ponder it long enough, you will realize that it is the right thing to do.

Aint that the truth! Boy my ex-wife sure could argue. It was so hard to correct her when she was wrong about something. She would ever so politely keep trying to explain where I was wrong...but I wasn't! So I developed that skill also...
