Whats up with all the fake pastors?

The last church I was involved with as being vice president on the board of directors, we made available to anyone who wanted a copy of the finance reports in order for them to see where all the offering monies were directed to. The board set a certain percentage of the offerings to the Pastor to help meet the needs for his family. I feel every church should do this.
This was one aspect of the churches of Christ I appreciated. Each week the last week's contribution is posted. At the beginning of the year, a budget is set and is distributed to every member.

The books are open to anyone at anytime.

The parish we share our pastor with started posting their offering collection each week in the bulletin along with the week's expenses about two or three years ago. It's only a guess but I think they started doing this to encourage giving, especially when there is a shortfall, for I believe they are struggling a little with meeting their obligations, but I can't be sure. Our parish chooses not to do this. I can see benefits both ways, however, the reason we choose not to post our offering receipts comes from Scripture in Matthew 6:1-4.

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly." NKJV

As our treasurer I receive thank you notes from the various charities and missions we support. I don't post them on our church bulletin board because that can lead to boasting or the perception of boasting. Instead, I just let the congregation know during our annual meeting in January that our gifts have been receive and appreciated. As a church, we don't need to brag or puff ourselves up in this way.

When we receive newsletters from our supported charities or missions I do post those on our bulletin boards for anyone interested in keeping up with what they are doing. It also provides some idea of the missions and charities we do support for visitors, so they can know some of what we are doing with our offerings. We also post a listing of those organizations we support on our website for all to see but we do not post any amounts. Our congregational meetings are open to the public so anyone interested in what we are doing may attend and see for themselves how we appropriate the funds. We have had some visitors do this and then later join our church.

I like honest pastors. I mean the pastor of a fake mega church acturally said in a interview that the people have itchy ears and he was scratching them. He probably had no idea what he said was in the scripture. At least he was honest. People love entertainment.
