When God doesn't convict us

I'm confused, so the sinners in John 9:31 were unbelievers or believers.
They were Jews who did not believe on Jesus.

We all have to be careful not to just seize upon some random scriptures someone told us "proves" something without opening the passages, and reading ALL the story to see what was REALLY being talked about.

Another question, do you believe John 9:31 also speaks of believers who willfully sin. Or does God break through the believers hard heart.
If you have been in church any length of time you will have heard of a number of people who were in the thick of sinning, and God answered their crys when all they were really doing was crying out for help.... not repenting, or confessing, or doing any of the many other things people will tell you HAVE to be done for God to hear us. Stone-cold sinners, maybe about to be shot in a drug deal, and they KNOW God stepped in............................. and some of them didn't even turn to God at THAT point........ just some time later.

We want to think we know all about God and how He works, and who He will save, and when. But life all too often proves us wrong.

So you believe if a christian is having a really hard time repenting of a sin and they're truly crying out to God, God will hear them?

Absolutely.
But be aware that you are throwing around a word here that has some deep meaning. Maybe deeper than you realize. "Repenting" of a sin does not mean that you just try to stop doing it. To REPENT, technically, means to change your mind about something. But it also means to take it into your heart that a certain behavior is going against the one you claim you want to follow and love.... doing your best to only act as He would.

If you don't see (for instance) porn or masturbation, or sleeping around as a serious slap in the face of Jesus, then to use the word "repent" is a bit of an insult to Him.

It has to be that serious to you.

We love Him because He first loved us....... is more than a Christian catch-phrase. It's truly a love relationship.

We cannot love a rule book. We need to find the much deeper living God, who IS love, itself.

I agree.

If you repent, then go back to the sin and repent again that's not repenting.

It all depends on how genuine you are.God knows. You might be about to fool the world but you can not fool God.

I agree.

If you repent, then go back to the sin and repent again that's not repenting.
Then you are mocking God.A person might say "well,I am going to go out tonight and do this very bad sinful thing but then I will come home and repent and everything will be ok".That is not a good thing.

I agree.

I think that sometimes people really do repent (they change their mind and agree with God) that what they are doing is sin. But they may have a deep seated problem, say alcohol or drugs, and they may stumble and even fall but their repentance was sincere and they are sorrowful about their weakness and keep starting over again climbing their mountain, they keep trusting God that He will help them overcome.
I think there is a difference between repenting and confessing.

God knows us completely. He knows why we stumble and fall.He has a ton of compassion and mercy. He knows our tolerance. He looks at the whole picture where we as humans do not.

What is God saying to us when he doesn't convict us, is that a good sign or a bad sign?

When God is silent, what does that mean.

What does it look like when God doesn't convict us, is there any stories in the Bible.

Believers and nonbelievers alike.
No matter, you can never escape your conscience.

Well, I have found through experience mind you, that He's saying that we don't have the Word of God written upon our heart.

That means He's busy searching your heart, waiting to see what you do without being told.

I don't know.

Yes. Then as soon as you crack open your bible, then He'll speak to you. I've had it happen. If you pray and don't get an answer, it's probably because you should already have the answer by reading His Word. It's all in there. If one is serious about repentance, then one will take some action and not just mutter a quick prayer of asking for forgiveness and continue on.
