And why am I posting at 12:40am ?

Life has been SO busy since the first of the year. The new job is a bit overwhelming, but I'm glad I made the move. The title "Engineer" is one I am earning on a daily basis. I've had to brush up on my math, go back and read a lot of FCC law concerning my industry, learn the details of the new modulation techniques my industry has implemented in the past 20 years - and then there is the challenge of learning how to cope and cooperate with the engineers around me at work, and those in Japan - they are a great bunch of people, but things are done so differently in R&D than they were in sales.

And did I mention that I'm learning, all over again, how to write technical papers? I enjoyed my writing classes in college and earned a 4.0 in that area. But writing in my new department is a TREMENDOUS learning experience - this is tougher than school.

My role at church has also demanded some of my time. With the school year starting, I've had to ramp up for the cub scouts and boy scout troops that I administer for.

And of course, my car and my car club remains my 'out', my pastime. The big event is coming the first of October, our annual meet in the Smokey Mountains will feature no less than 70 cars. Not a record, but close - and somehow I am one of the three ringleaders for the event.

Oh, and my car club gave me the Stoddard Award last month. I'm somebody now! :)

Thanks, all.

How was my weekend? (Someone WAS going to ask, right?) Well, 'poetic' would work. I had the car out all weekend and left my sister's today a little early as I was worried about rain. (I am getting too old and tired to wash the car AGAIN already.) Well, I returned the car to storage, wiped it down, put the top up, and pulled it into the bay. When I walked out, it was sprinkling. By the time I got a mile down the road on the way home, it was pouring.

I may be a Pizza in a dunce cap, but I finally found a place to host my photos................

Today, I learned, well, MEMORIZED, that hex 2 equals "Start of text" and hex 3 equals "end of text" and hex 30 equals zero. No, I'm not back in school. I'm being paid to learn; the job I've ALWAYS wanted.

Well, my nephew talked to me today. He's at the end of his rope, he confirmed what I suspected, his job loss two years ago was due to missing work to care for his mom. Now, it appears his new job is in real jeopardy for same reason. So, Deb has to go somewhere, and the only option is a nursing home. Since she is on disability and has no money, it will be one of "those" nursing homes. This is going to be bad. I don't even know why I'm posting, I'm not looking for advice.

'Those' nursing homes are not what you think. I am the guardian for my aunt's best friend who has been in a nursing home for abut 3 years, the past 2 years on medicaid because her money ran out. The primary thing is for someone to show up at different times; meet with the staff and social workers regularly; ask about medications (I have a medical background so that helps me), social activities, and make sure she is not just set in front of a TV for 16 hours as day. Most NH try to comply with state rules; his job will be to make sure they do.
Sorry for giving advice......couldn't help myself.....

My car club's big event is coming up. Every October we head for "the tail of the Dragon" but things get complicated and I find a need to send out updates....

DRAGON UPDATE: Ok, we are up to 75 cars now and over 120 people. This will be a big, confusing crowd and I need some help.

See, it just occurred to me that I proposed to a lady at the Fall 2015 Dragon. (Alcohol was not involved.) Then, last year I proposed to two ladies (alcohol was certainly involved).

That means I gotta propose to three this time. I must ask that single ladies please indicate such on their name tags this fall. I can't be proposing to married women. The name tags will be on the welcome table - please write your name in BIG LETTERS and UNDERLINE it if you are single. Wearing a sign that says, "Lonely - Desperate - Low Standards" would also help.

Well, my sister has come around. Talked to her today and she is going to a nursing home this week(that she previously stayd in three weeks and hated) and is making this as positive as she can.

I am rather impressed. She has the intellectual and spiritual gifts and resources to be quite an effective character in the patient population. I am hopeful she uses this experience as a chance to really influence others and find meaning in her existence. Hopefully this won't be as horrible as we'd feared.

Good for all of you Pizza... She needs care... I could not get my mom to take here meds properly ... She would 'play games' she is doing much better in a long term care facility ..

I was asking about the Dragon

The Dragon was last weekend. 81 cars, our second largest meet in the world, ten years after the car went out of production.

I was very busy coordinating the event and handling comments and complaints - so my friends whisked me away Saturday evening and about 15 of us went to one of the cabins on the property and had a more private time away from the crowd. Not how I planned to spend the evening but it was a good idea.

The best part was how some friends wanted me to stay Sunday night and go home Monday. But I was sure I should not ask for another day off at the last minute, so I drove home in the tropical storm in heavy winds, rain and fog. Went to the office Monday morning only to realize that Columbus day was our floating holiday this year.
