Bible Study Where In The Faith Are You?!

I believe Christ is placed on the earth in Rev. 19:15 to "smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron."

At this time "the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses"; these are in reference to the Christians because of the "clothed in fine linen, white and clean" (v 8, 14).

Yes, all Three are divine and are in us through the Spirit. We partake of the divine nature in Them, not in us. Being partakers of the divine nature cannot refer to partaking of the divinity of their nature because that would make us divine--which was Satan's desire.

I can't explain it better than understanding that we partake of His nature, which is divine in Him.

.... The "Divine Nature" Of God is given to the believer to walk in, by the "Spirit" thus we are commanded to always walk in the "Spirit" and bear the fruits of the Spirit!

2Pe 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

---

I see this as us having all we need to live godly lives and walk in the Spirit because Christ is in us. What we must do is yield to Him and His will, and let Him live His life thru us in every area and situation. Thus we will be walking in the Spirit instead of following the flesh. In that way we bear much fruit which will bring glory to God

I agree its Christ "in us" the Hope of Glory!

I dont not believe I in anyway have suggested that the "flesh of man" is divine
but I do hold that having the Holy Spirit within us, we are to overcome the sinfulness of the flesh by the power of the Spirit. This is accomplished by walking in the Spirit.

Rom 8:13

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

That sound a little "divine" dont you think? :thumbsup

Hi Mitspa, Sorry if I misunderstood you! I've only been speculative concerning your comprehension of the subject (being "partakers of the divine nature") and never was conclusive of your thought concerning it.

What you've been sharing never gave me the impression that you thought "that the "flesh of man" is divine", but I was just trying to provide my explanation of it, from your earlier statement that "The "Divine Nature" Of God is given to the believer to walk in, by the "Spirit."

I see your comprehension, which I believe many others may have about the same view, including me until recently (understandably so, considering the way it is presented in Scripture). that we now have use of Their divinity, which was how I used to comprehend it. But now I'm sharing it as I view it, that we do not stand in this divinity, but are influenced by it as we stand in the Spirit, to the point it continues to conform us.

I assure you the "Divine Nature" is a living truth. And I am well versed and able in the Greek if you have a issue of translation?

Mistpa, I was trying to let you know that I didn't think you "suggested that the "flesh of man" is divine". I must have not made myself clear enough. It could be my poor choice of words or expressions. My apology!

Excellent discussion, gentlemen ... clarified a question I had but which was answered before I could ask!

God's blessings on each of you!

My biggest problem is my self. I can spend wonderful time in Daddy God's Presence, time worshipping and thanking Jeses for His obedience to the Cross; and time reaching out to love and befriend the "village idiot" or someone who is lonely because other people keep them at arms length. After all, I am sure there are some who has considered me the "village idiot" and has gone out of their way to befriend me and make me feel welcome. I can walk and talk with Jesus throughout the day and be listening for His voice and guidance.
But a few pet peaves can sure throw me back into myself. One is that fact that my husband never throws anything away! He is so perfect and Godly and almost every other way. Deep down I love him incredibly with God's love. So I try to ignore the inconvenience.
Then there are political issues. Our governor signed gay marriage into law after the citizens voted it down several times over the years. Or the fact that we can't trust a word that our president says because his actions reveal his treachery. So I grieve over the decisions of our leaders and throw myself at God's feet again. And I pray for the ability to see our leaders through God's eyes--lost and decieved. People like Saul of Tarsus. God turned him around so I know he can save our political leader, too.
I am my own worst enemy. I am inconsistant like a little kid stumbling time and time again. Yet Daddy God somehow loves my anyway for Jesus sake and through His blood. He comforts me, sets me on my feet again to walk, but this time we hang on to each others hands a little tighter. And If I let go, He still has my hand and keeps me from falling to my death.
I have no idea where this fits into your idea of Christian maturity which doesn't seem to take in account my human failing and inconsistancy. I certainly haven't arrived.

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Hi Sister Carolyn - God's blessings to your Family! Your spiritual life-style evidences to me to be healthy and on the up & up, in that there is the absence of troubles, which the Lord admonished to us not to allow (John 14:1, 27).

Keeping hardships down to just problematic levels comes from experience which requires much time and patience derived from entrusting all to God by "casting all your cares upon Him" (1 Pet 5:7); which, from reading your post, I suspect you're familiar with.

As for self being a problem, there are very few other equally significant lessons to be learned than that of self--old self that is. For what ever reason God has chosen for the Enemy to remain, it is the same for the ongoing presence of our sinful nature within us and I believe the only way we are influenced is through it.

While we are aware that we are not totally absent from old self's influence (Rom 7:14-25), we can be assured of our complete immunity from its guilt which affords us freedom to walk with "a good conscience toward God" (1 Pet 3:21).

I believe just as we are influenced through our "old man", we are also influenced, even more through our "new man"--by the Spirit (Gal 5:17) and "where sin abounded, grace did much more abound" (Rom 5:20).

Concerning arriving, nobody will come "unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" (Eph 4:13) until His second advent, for, "unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time" (Heb 9:28) and "when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is" (1 John 3:2).

Forgive me if I've overstayed my welcome and I like reminding Christians that we never have to say goodbye, but see you later; like here, there or in the air (1 Thess 4:17).

For Christ's Sake (Eph 4:32) <><
