Which Bible is the true Bible?

The same way that they are of use today. The writers of the Gospels, including Paul, used the Old Testament -- all they had then -- to teach the Gentiles.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:27

All the Gentiles did not have bibles.

Nor did Paul and the Apostles.

Pauls letters became scripture, but this came over the years, still the Church flourished.

How were the Old Testament writings as much use to unlearned Gentiles in how to live under the New Covenant?

If the Old Testament writings were sufficient for life in the New Covenant, then why would there need to be the New Testament writings?

JLB

Why did Paul write Romans and the other New Testament epistles? He cites the Old Testament many times in his writings.

Beyond that, there were Christians, both Jews and Gentiles, long before there was anything called the New Testament. All that is necessary to be a Christian is to accept Jesus as your Savior.

I'm sorry but you are very mistaken. The Jews as a people had the Old Testament (as we now call it) for centuries before Christ. Modern scholars, especially from the 19th century onward, see the Old Testament "books" as a product of 1200 through 165 BC.

Much of the Mediterranean world, including Jesus, Matthew, Mark, John, Paul, James, Peter, and others had the Septuagint -- the Greek translation of the Hebrew and Aramaic Old Testament. In other words, they had the Bible.

Of course he does. Why didn’t the Pharisee’s cite these Old Testament scriptures that refer to Jesus?

So you believe Peter carried around copies of the Old Testament scrolls as a fisherman?

These were found in synagogues mainly.

Paul as an apostle had some of the writings but it’s doubful he had an entire Old Testament.

Ok.

My point is, Jesus is the Teacher, and He dwells within us, to lead us and guide us. This is the promise of the New Covenant.

But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”Jeremiah 31:33-34

still had the scriptures .Paul would on his travel have the tanakh.

he told Timothy what the bible was for .

the bereans (goyim)searched the scriptures to verify what Paul said was true .

Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Acts 17:10-11

Bereans refers to the Jews in that city who searched the scriptures diligently.

In addition Paul would seek out Jews in each city where the Lord sent him to raise up churches because they would have copies of the Old Testament scriptures in their synagogue and would be instrumental in teaching the Gentiles who were being saved.

Get a Jew saved and you had an instant teacher who could instruct Gentiles. However, some would misunderstand things about the law and in their immaturity would try to bring Gentiles under the law. Paul constantly struggled with this issue with Jews.

He definitely did have some of the Old Testament writings.

But would also leave them behind for the Church to copy and study.

Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come—and the books, especially the parchments. 2 Timothy 4:13

Yes, he had waterproof scrolls written on sheepskins.

Why do you write something strange like "Peter carried around copies of the Old Testament scrolls as a fisherman"? He was called by Jesus and immediately left his fishing boat and followed Jesus.

Paul (actually, Saul) was extremely religious and, both as a student and as an apostle, had access to the entire Old Testament.

I’d like for you to answer my question.

So you believe Peter carried around copies of the Old Testament scrolls as a fisherman?

It’s a simple question and I’d like to know your thoughts.

I answered your question in the previous post with a touch of humor.

Of course Peter didn't carry around copies of the Old Testament scrolls as a fisherman. How would that even be possible? Keep them under his clothing while fishing to protect them from getting ruined by water?

Peter and his brother were hard-working fisherman until Jesus called them to be His followers.

Scrolls of the Old Testament "books" were painstakingly created by hand by scribes whose lives were dedicated to the task. As a result, they were very expensive, way beyond what any fisherman could afford.
