Hi everyone.

I was just wondering, which Bible do you personally use and which one would you reccomend a non Christian to use??

I use the NASB and the NKJV the most when doing litteral Bible studies. Only when I read a verse and say "huh?" do I ever look at the NIV or paraphrase Bibles.

As for a bible for non-believers, it doesn't really matter, just don't get a liberal Bible like the NRSV.

For me I used the NIV at first, I wasn't used to the words of the KJV. Later on though I began using the KJV more and more until today I rarely even open my NIV bible.
And as with anything else one can have a stack of each version but if none are opened then all are worthless.

I prefer the NKJV except when I read the Nativity story. It must be the KJV during that time as the poemic feeling that I remember growing up is there. I personally have a hard time studying the KJV full time though as I get hung up on the language.

Douay-Rheims > NAB, but sounds as though you're looking for something more "Protestant".

Then, the only one I've ever read, KJV, of course.

I use the KJV and the Amplified' I have many other translations. But I don't use them. Going to get a soft back King James & Amplified parallel Bible.

Posts that were off topic were deleted. Now we can get back on track.

The main bible I own is a NIV study bible. I also use Biblegateway, Scripturetext and Zhubert as well when studying.

Jeff, Do you know President Bush will be in your area soon. I know this is off topic. So excuse me.

I use the NASB - it is considered a literal translation.

I use the King James version, myself.

for a non-christian to use? depends.. I generally say to use
whatever one you can understand.
and that might end up being the NIV or the NKJV

I have recently chosen to go away from all the translations and go solely with the KJV.

And the KJV isn't a translation?

I certainly hope you said that with tongue in cheek. Of course it is and that would therefore make it clear to anyone reading that I must have not included the word "Other" in my sentence. GEEZ!

I use the NKJV mostly, but if debating someone who likes the KJV I will use that as well...While the NASB is a literal translation, it is a translation based off the wrong manuscripts....
