Who are we to judge?

It doesn't get anymore opposite than that.

I can agree with that, however, I believe there are two different types of fools. Those who have been taught so erroneously that they're foolish in their beliefs (I know one of these types), these types are willing to learn and to receive instruction. The other type, is a fools fool, thinks he knows it all (and doesn't) and will not learn anything no matter how reasonable the talk is. See what I mean?

I totally agree and see what you mean.

To know how or how not to answer each one takes wisdom.

It takes the leading of the Spirit.

If the fool is a person in authority over you or a parent then it is best not to answer.

JLB

4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him.Proverbs 26:4

5 Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes. Proverbs 26:5

Two scriptures stated back to back that say exactly the opposite.

I takes wisdom to when, how, who and where to apply which one.

As many as are led by The spirit of God, these are the sons of God.

I don't think they say the opposite. It has to do whether one is willing to receive the truth, and the other not.

Answer a fool.

Don't answer a fool.

It doesn't get anymore opposite than that.

Try this rendering of the text.

Don't answer a fool in his same foolish way, so you aren't thought to be like him. 5 Reply to show how he is foolish, so he will not think himself wise.

What happened to the thread starter??

What happens to the Lords WORD of Matt.18
[15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

[16] But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

[17] And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

[18] Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

I don't know, but only a scurvy dog would start a thread and then make tracks for the door.

There's no question that we can judge fruit...you know, outward manifestations of unkindness, unfaithfulness, wrath, hatred, jealousy, etc. What we can't do is judge WHY someone is doing something, or not doing something, that we think they should. But we seem to like to do that in the church as if we had the capacity to do that (that is, when the person himself doesn't say why he's doing/ not doing something).

I specifically had 'law keepers' in mind for this thread (but it applies elsewhere too). How is it that the rest of us know that keeping Sabbath, for example, means that person is trying to be justified by that work, instead of that work being a legitimate expression of that person's faith in the blood of Christ for justification?

Who truly keeps the Sabbath? Most folks have an idea that keeping Sabbath means worship service on Sabbath or Saturday... and just taking it easy unto the Lord.... It is harder today to truly keep the Sabbath today then a zillion years ago...

We must give up our conveniences, ones we consider daily life necessities , Water , lights, computer time , when we use those things we are causing the stranger with in our gates to labour...

Exo_20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

I am so very thankful for the Grace and Mercy of or Lord.... The letter of the law v. the Spirit of Grace and Mercy :) I find no fault in those who think/try/wish /etc to keep the laws that is between them and God.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Well now, In Isa. 65:17 through to the end of the verse, we see what 'I' will be doing six days of the week! (even liking the work! but I like my work anyway...;))

And then onto Isa.66:22-23 I 'see' what I will be doing on the Lords 7th Day Sabbath! And then we will ALL LOVE one another. (if we are there?)
OH! The heavens will have.. will have the 'one moon to another' for the day marked out. But not the heavenly City for God will be the light seen there!
