Hey Vic,

Looks like your cat got out of the house again and Lewis caught him in the act, and he's working for that "Silly Post Hater - Cheney the Hun" !!!!

Hey Dave,

A little serious for a second. The front page of this forum contains 49 threads. 22 of these theads are silly threads started by you. Most of them get one or two posts and then you make another one.

I think this pushes threads that some people are active in to the back pages too early. Someone new may log on here, like I did, and wonder what the heck is going on. I had to check back a couple times before I joined.

At first, I seriously thought you were a troll who must be some kind of anti-christian out to ruin it for everyone else or something. I soon found out what the dilly was though.

All this to say....all things in moderation. Too much is overkill. It's not about likes or dislikes. No one likes to be tickled 24/7, know what I mean bro? :-)

That is where moderation comes in. :-)

If you haven't noticed, most of my recent posts have been serious. No one complains about those. :lol

I have a question,
Just curious, and not to offend any of the "silly post haters" or acuse anyone here whose posted in this thread as being a "silly post hater", and not that I'm intnending any such sort of offensive or hostility towards anyone (sheesh, a person's gotta set themself up with protective armor around here lately because there are way too many people who take offense where none should be taken and ya have to wonder if am I going to be deleted for posing a question or for being too serious with someone, or for insulting someone where no insult was meant? Sheesh. ) .... Oh, and not to say that I have to with you!!!! :lol
So now that that explaing about having to be careful about not offending anyone is out of the way, because, "at times", not all the time, but "sometimes", I've been taken the wrong way far too extremely around here, Hey! really, no offense to anyone... :eyebrow ...........

Soooooooo then, with that out of the way........... I'm Just asking a question.... but...... Why don't you post your silly threads in the Humor Forum?

.

I do not believe it would be good for me to stop being myself to please a few people.

If you are a Christian, you might want to consider that the standard you should compare yourself to is Christ.

I believe Christians are allowed to have a sense of humor. And being "silly" isn't an offense to God. Being foolish is but being silly isn't. Tsome seem to think there is a thin line between being a fool and being silly. But I beleive there there really is a difference and God doesn't want us to walk around like a bunch of stuffed shirts that go around thinking to laugh and mess around or act like a child would in fun way every so often is a bad thing.

I laugh with my with my children and grandchildren and other adults all the time. If a person doesn't like my being silly and using childish humor then that's their problem. They don't need to join in if they don't want to. There is nothing wrong with a good laugh.

Now some people think differently about what is funny and what is not. Will we all go to hell if we poke a little fun sometimes? If I tell you your hair looks funny today will you be upset with me? Sheesh. Some people would think that to be an insult that is too personal and should not be made fun of. others would think nothing of it. If I said, you are a goof, some people would think, how dare you call me a goof, and others would think nothing of it.

Go figure.... Some people are just way too sensitive and take things all too seriously. :twocents

It's not a matter of anyone being too serious or too sensitive, and I don't hate the silly posts. It's a matter of WAY too many senseless posts about nonsense things that make no sense. If they were all put together in ONE forum, that would make it a lot easier for those who don't care to be inundated with silliness and would prefer it in smaller doses.

I've enjoyed a few of the silly posts, but most of them are just TOO silly for my taste. I enjoy jokes and being silly sometimes myself and tend to be very facetious, and I agree that God has no problem with having innocent fun. However, there is such a thing as TOO much silliness and TOO many nonsense posts--as well as being too serious and not having any sense of humor. Just because some people prefer a balance of serious and silly and not mostly silly doesn't mean they have no sense of humor.

Since I'm the only one who seems to have a problem with TOO much childishness in an adult, perhaps I don't belong here. I'm in another Christian Web site where nearly everyone else there is young enough to be my children and even my grandchildren, and yet they all seem to be very mature and don't post a lot of silliness. Maybe I am just too serious, but I think there's a time for seriousness and a time for silliness, and too much of either makes a person either too serious or too silly. I will apologize in advance for any offense I may cause with my opinion.

This comment was totally rude and uncalled for. Because I act silly, does not mean I am not a good Christian. I am actually a very mature and wise guy once you get to know me. In fact, most of my latest topics have been serious. I act silly sometimes not because I am immature but rather because I like to have a good time. Sure to some, my silliness may be considered foolish. However, in no way am I disobeying God or contradicting the scriptures.

It seems that the majority of the people here enjoy my humor. Sad that because of one or two people, it has to ruin it for everyone else. I said I was going to cut back on the silly posts and if that isn't enough for you slayer haters, I don't know what is. :P

No offense taken, I respect your opinion. I will say this, however. If you really got to know me, you would see I am not the little immature child you think I am. It may seem that way on the surface but anyone who knows me well will tell you I am an intelligent, mature, and wise person. Don't let my silliness fool ya. ;)

Don't be dismayed or insulted Dave. I don't think TimF was rude... abrupt maybe. Remember, you started the thread and asked the question. :D

This can turn out to be a sensitive issue here, and I'm sure there is NO offense intended towards anyone, but yes, excess humor (threads) in a General Forum can become a bit overwhelming when there is more of those than any other threads of a serious nature. I've posed the question also, but so far I haven't seen a reply for it..... I for one, think it would be a great idea if Dave(Brian) decided to have his "silly" Threads moved the, "silly" posts into the "humor" thread. I would enjoy them in that Forum also.

By the way, just curious, how many "silly" Threads have you posted there in the General Forum Dave Slayer ???? :shrug

Not accusing anyone of being anything, just contributing to this thread and voicing my :twocents No offense to anyone. Sheesh! I'm tired of having to explain that I'm not intending to offend anyone because I feel like I'm having to walk on ice so as not to might hit someone's nerve or something. :o :chin

Lighten up and don't take any offense, anyone, K? :D

Dave, I have definitely seen your intelligence, maturity and wisdom since I've gotten to know you. :) And there's nothing wrong with silliness. If we ever get to the point where we feel like we are too "mature" for silly play, then we miss out on so much in life! I know you've injected a healthy dose of laughter into my days and I really needed it! So thank you.

So what you're looking for is favorable responses?

Not necessarily. Your response wasn't really "favorable" but it wasn't rude either. At least I did not think it was. I don't have a problem if someone doesn't like my sense of humor. But when I am asked to change for a few people, I disagree with that. No one should have to change for anyone. TimF was basically indicating that because of my silliness, my life somehow didn't match up with the Bible. At least, that is how I interpreted it.

Look, I asked who likes my silly posts and who doesn't. Sure, I prefer favorable responses but I won't always get them. I just happened to disagree that I need to change for someone is all. And, I believe I have the right to tell someone I disagree with them.
