I am a Christian because the word was preached to me, and I accepted Gods word through his son Jesus Christ.

Most people who truly question the validitity of the bible, and actual "mysticism" and "magic" often turn out to become atheists or agnostics. Yes, some do convert back, but a majority that become atheists, stay atheists.
Only true from your perspective. Isn't it ironic...
(concepts and versed taken from "A call for Discernment" by Jay E. Adams, boy am I getting some milage out of this book today)
Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Yes, here we have some of the noblest in the time of Jesus searching the scriptures daily for truth... to see if they were so. In other words, to see if scripture agreed with the gospel. And what was their findings??
Acts 17:12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honorable women who were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
Now, we also had another group searching the scriptures. The Pharisees. Now, what's the difference between the Pharisees and the Bereans? One group was looking for truth, the other was looking for error... Here's what Jesus had to say. (for the sake of space, read the chapter)
John 5:39-40 Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And you will not come to me, that you might have life.
John 5:46-47 For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if you believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words?
