Growth Why are you Saved?

Why were you saved? Were you saved so that you could just have "fire insurance, or were you saved for a different reason? You were saved to fulfill the Great Commission. The Great Commission stated that we are to go to all nations, make disciples of them, and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So, why were you saved and are you fulfilling your purpose on earth?

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all thing that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20.

I'm saved by the blood of Christ so I will have eternal life with Him as he has spared me from the fires of damnation making a way for me through repentance. The works I do are those continued works of the Lord as He works in me and through me.

He saved me to glorify Him.
So whatever, however, wherever that leads to glorifying Him was His purpose for saving me.

"Why were you saved?" That question can be understood in a number of different ways. Why did God send His Son to save us? Why did He choose to save me in particular? On what do I base my claim to be saved? What is the purpose of my life after I am saved? As for why God saves anybody, I have no idea. I know that I sure haven't done anything to deserve it. But I believe that once we are saved, God has a ministry and gifts for each of His children. He wants me to walk in the ministry He has given me, as well as in His other commandments that are for everybody. In other words, I was saved to serve God.

I am saved because God opened my heart to Him.It has been a gradual change but He is changing me from the inside out each and every day.

I think the idea that every believer must become a traveling missionary is incorrect. There are many "quiet" Christians who evangelise brilliantly through their lives.

1Th 4:9-12 Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, (10) for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, (11) and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, (12) so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

I agree. In Ephesians 4 Paul clearly says that only "some are evangelists". And there's also what he says in I Cor. 12. There are different gifts and different ministries, all given by the same Spirit.

There are many different aspects to the great commission, but if we are saved we should be doing something to serve the Lord or why even be here at all. If you are saved, you have a purpose for existing. The Lord wants us to use the talents He has given us to advance the kingdom. He gave some to a Apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers. I like to teach. That is my talent. My husband loves to entertain. That is his talent. Use your talents to serve the Lord.

Yes I agree. Some Church groups seem to present traveling missions as something every Believer should do. The mission field is also at your doorstep.

Yes, churches are always looking for people to serve in missions. America is about a screwed up as it can get right now. There are a lot of opportunities to serve right here.
