There are a lot of songs that refer to death as crossing Jordan or talking about waiting on Jordan's shores for loved ones in heaven. Where did that come from? Am I missing something? Is this in the Bible?

Good question, I really don't know. :confused I would like to know as well. :)
 
ah, okay. so Christians today liken it to passing from life into heaven? I never really put that together but it makes sense.
 
Thinking of my grandparents,uncle who are Jews who died.the mourners kaddish,things I learned from talking to Jeff and reading up on it
 
Just as the Israelites crossed over the Jordon River to reach the promised land so will we when we pass on from this life on earth into our promised land being the New Jerusalem.
