From and evolutionary point of view, our toenails are the remants ot claws which all primates still have and use.
However, if we were created as we are, what use are they?
Also, if we are created in Gods image, what use does he have for toenails?

Interesting Question. I'm glad I don't need to know everything. God is in control, He did it, that's fine for me.
 
Why do we have toes?? We only need one for balance.
 
Can't think of a good reason for toenails, but toes make great spare parts. Missing a toe or two doesn't affect the functionality of the foot, while missing a finger or two can destroy the functionality of a hand. Surgeons can now quite easily replace missing fingers with toes.

Even further, people who are missing entire arms can learn to do many of the same things we use our fingers for, such as typing or playing the piano, with their toes, of which they need 5 on each foot to utilize these things meant for 5 fingered people. And, speaking of those forced to use their feet as hands, that brings us back to a legitimate purpose for toenails. Fingernails allow us to manipulate much smaller objects than our unnailed digits would be capable of, and of cours if you have to pick up something with your toes, obviously toenails will act similarly.

I don't think it is unheard of for engineers to include non-essential design aspects which can be canabilized and adapted to serve an essential role in a pinch. In fact, I'm almost certain that such things are done in remote probes which will be rendered useless if certain systems fail, and which cannot be manually repaired.
 
Regarding fingernails and toenails, I have seen on television before several years ago, a woman who grew her fingernails to be extremely long(Might've been a few feet.) She was offered 1 million dollars to cut them(IIRC, the offer was made by a Japanese tv show.)

So, apparently, one can possibly make a great deal of money depending how they use their nails.



She turned the offer down, BTW......

I do grow long fingernails, but I don't think if I grew them extremely long, that I would become so attached to them that I would refuse 1 million to cut them! :lol:
 
ive noted that long fingernails allow some of the chick fights in shcool to turn bloody.

long toe nails umm...

I got scratched in teh chest once while chickenfighting..



I heard about those ppl with huge nails. that guy had nails that wer elike, 4 feet long.. SOO nasty

Actually I am not sure that "evolutionist" would completely agree with that assertion.

:-D I be wrong! Glad I said "not sure" :) lol, I had to go research it.... and lo and behond, its rather questionable still. But not something I'd argue.

Sorry B, I don't mind not knowing everything. I have toe nails, that's not going to prevent me from receiving salvation, so I'm not curious at all. God created us as we are for a reason, and I trust that those who accept the sacrifice of his Son will have the answers we need in heaven.
 
Come to think of it, toenails/fingernails are useful for scratching iches. (Toenails are good for scratching when you're too lazy to use your fingers.)
 
i cant really scratch more than my legs.. lol... if that.
 
If God hadn't given us toenails, you'd say he hated the itchy, armless people of the world.

or since he did, i would say he hats peopel prone to dropping hammers on their toes, and getting an infection *(yes i admit i have nasty yellow growy stuff under a toenail forma hammer 3 years ago)

In my time on this forum I have laughed...I have almost cried. I have spit coffee on my keyboard and even got mad a few times.

THAT was the first time I almost got sick.
