Why is Christianity always attacked?

WHen I was a child I was beaten by a neighbor child because I refused to steal for her. When l was older I was threatened, and ridiculed for attending church. I was even beaten to prevent me from attending church. I call this persecution. I have often heard from the pulpit the we don't know what persecution is in this country. It only shows how ignorant people are as to what really goes on. OR perhaps this is not con-sidered to be persecution because it is not occuring in another country. True, I completely lack tact. Humm. ......

I am sorry to hear of your troubles and I recognise your use of the word 'persecution' but I think most would consider that 'bullying' or 'manipulation' rather than persecution.

'Persecution' is unfortunately one of those misleading words that really do mean different things to different people. I have tried looking it up in several dictionaries and there are significant differences between their definitions.

To me, this is the right definition.....
Persecution is the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another group. The most common forms are religious persecution, ethnic persecution, caste system and political persecution, though there is naturally some overlap between these terms.
If people disagree, and they undoubtedly will, that helps to illustrate my point that it means different things to different people.
