If a person seeks Psychics and Tarot Cards for past experiences and answers rather than the future is that still bad.

Why seek answers through forms that have been forbidden to Christians?
Why aren't answers to current problems being sought from wise and experienced Christians in one's church?

I think this question is complex.

King David used divination *, and Solomon did too. However, it is generally forbidden because using it for personal profit is dangerous and, like the internet, you never know who is on the other side.

I believe that if it is used solely for positive spiritual growth, then it is acceptable, as long as one ensures that it is clearly and undoubtedly directed toward aligning oneself with God's will. But once someone tries to use it for purposes that are less clear, there is danger.

Psychic’s operate by spirit of divination that can tell “facts” about a person but are demonic.

  • that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days.
But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.
Acts 16:16-19

These spirits seek to entice and astonish people with certain knowledge and facts, so as to distract them from God’s plan for their life.

Seeking occult knowledge opens the door to the enemy to deceive and causes them to be dependent upon such demonic wisdom and knowledge in which they continue to pay and become “hooked” on seeking the powers of darkness for their life rather than God.

These things are an abomination to God and will bring a curse upon your life as well as your generational bloodline.

‘You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying. You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard. You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:26-28

From , An A-Z List of New Age Practices to Avoid, and Why

Tarot Cards – Tarot cards are associated with divination—unlocking the secrets of the future by occult, supernatural means. Divination is strictly prohibited in the Bible. Tarot cards come in a deck of 78 individual cards. They were developed about 600 years ago for gaming. However, some mystics, psychics, and occultists began to use the cards for divination, and today the cards and the ability to “read” them are seen as elements of fortune-telling. To receive a tarot reading is to attempt to find out things about one’s life or future through the occult. Only God holds the future, and only He truly knows what will happen (Isaiah 46:10). If you desire to have peace about your future, turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. The future is bright for those who know Him (Romans 8:17). From gotquestions.org

Oh, I see my answer was not well received. I can understand that and certainly I must side with those that reject it. It's better to not get involved in any of these practices as it is clearly rejected in the bible.

Anyway I say that it is a complex issue because there are episodes in the bible where the use of divination techniques to discern the will of God is used and we are not speaking of minor figures. So maybe it will be good to make a distinction between divination techniques used to discern the will of God and the divination used for any other purpose.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

1 Samuel 28:12-20 this women used a familiar spirit that took on the form of Samuel as this is why the scripture says Samuel spoke. Look closely at vs. 14, Saul ask what form is he of and the women describe the form and Saul stooped with his face to the ground and bowed himself before the form, not actually seeing it, but only perceiving it was Samuel. The familiar spirit only spoke of things that Saul already knew about God being quiet and why He was quiet toward Saul. The familiar spirit never gave Saul an answer of what he should do. Then the familiar spirit proceeded to tell Saul what was about to happen to him and his sons that they would be in the ground from whence the familiar spirit came from.

Saul is now in his grave waiting that of the lake of fire as his name is not written in the Lambs book of life, but will face Gods judgement for being an abomination to God. God rejected Saul for his disobedience against Him.

1 Chronicles 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
1 Chronicles 10:14 And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deuteronomy 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deuteronomy 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Ephesians 4:9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Saul consults the woman because he has been abandoned by God. Therefore, Saul was using divination outside of God's will.

1 Samuel 28:6
He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets.

-> Here the word is "Urim." and it implies that God speaks trough Urim

Deuteronomy 33:8
About Levi, he said: “Your Thummim and Urim belong to your faithful servant. You tested him at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah.”

Numbers 27:21
And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word, they shall go out, and at his word, they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.

Urim and Thummim are a divination method used by the high priest to help discern the will of God. They are mentioned many times in the Bible in a positive context and as a valid tool. This is why I said that divination only seems permissible when used to discern the will of God—always to act, think, and understand according to God's will. No other purpose seems permissible.

I’m insisting on this topic because it’s not entirely obvious that any form of divination is bad. It seems more logical to assume that only divination practiced outside of God’s will is bad. At least this is what i understand reading how the Urim was used by the high priest.

Divination a fancy word meaning seeking guidance.
Guidance from God about the Christian life is found in two simple forms in the bible.
The slightly more complex found in the 10 commandments.
The much simpler guidance is in the ot and expressed by Jesus -
Love the Lord your God with all your being and to Love your neighbour as you love yourself.

So activities banned in the above should not be done by Christians, activities that limit one's worship, affect how one loves others both personally and through work and socially.

Before someon5 jumps in saying this is legalise, obedience to the 10C does not earn ones salvation, it just demonstrates that one loves Jesus.

There isn’t a chapter/verse against tarot in particular, but I agree that it comes under the idea of the demonic, and the Bible is against the demonic since the demonic is against humanity. A relevant book with free access is https://archive.org/details/revisiting-the-challenging-counterfeit-230714. It covers the story of an ex-Spiritualist medium, an ethnic-Jew named Raphael Gasson. Nowadays the fashionable buzzword is psychics, although TV can still make money about touting mediums and so-called Rescue Work. Gasson showed that that was damaging to society, since damaging to individuals within it, side-tracking them from the spiritual reality into which we many enter. He showed that 1# the true supernatural is by God, 2# some Spiritualism is fake by tricksters; 3# some Spiritualism is genuine by Satan mimicking God’s works, a challenging counterfeit.

Leviticus 20:27 (ESV)

"A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them."

Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, and séances fall into this category as well.

Why does the Bible condemn them is your question.

These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give advice and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons according to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15.

The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can contact us so there is no reason to contact them or pray to them. If they were believers, they are in heaven enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell, suffering unending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him.

Satan pretends to be kind and helpful. He tries to appear as something good. Satan and his demons will give a psychic information about a person in order to get that person hooked into spiritism, something that God forbids. It appears innocent at first, but soon people can find themselves addicted to psychics and unwittingly allow Satan to control and destroy their lives.
