Why Unmarried Christians Are Having Sex?

Unmarried Christians are having as much sex as non-Christians. Your thoughts and comments on this subject.

Unmarried Christians who have sex still run the risk of disease and pregnancy.

I kinda think it is because we have bought into the feel good about yourself junk the world teaches .. We are afraid to call /teach sin is sin ... We have gone over the balance of forgiveness to no consequences. We have left the raising of our children to the public school system...

O no no we cant look at the OT and see what sin is we are under grace

Sex out side of marriage is nothing new but I do believe it has 'become more accepted in the churches.....

I think that as a society we have allowed it to become acceptable.

Television has had a huge part in that. I recall the shows that were on when I was a teenager vs the kids shows I watched that were on just a few years earlier. The teenage shows were all about teenagers having sex with each other! Now today, the sex doesn't even become the big issue like it did in those shows. Other issues such as bullying has become the stand out issues on the shows and the sex is just a thing that "teens do". It isn't even brought up unless the episode is about teen pregnancy.

Parents don't monitor what kids watch anymore, then in turn, the generation grows up and the issues are accepted...

So for sex to be common among younger Christians... why wouldn't it be? Its a "part" of life now...

Why do people do that... probably because they enjoy it.

If you are christian and single and stick to the rules you might have to live for years without touching another person. That's hard to survive. Humans need body contact with other humans.
That's my theory. It's not about lust and satisfaction, but about loneliness and emotional needs.
Our societies are very much in favour of individuality and interpersonal distance. Sex is almost the only way to experience closeness to someone when you're single.

Plus the omnipresent sex on the media. They are obssessive-compulsively talking about sex, if you don't watch out they'll have you believe that if you don't go through 5 lovers every week you're abnormal.

Sex out side of marriage is not God's way. The hurts the pain often to innocents God know our needs and He instituted marriage.

Some are and some aren't. My thought? The Lord is gracious to the good and the evil alike, to those who put Him first as they are commanded and to those who don't. He makes both the sun to shine and the rain to fall upon all.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 NIV

The "spirit of the world" and the "spirit of whoredom" are very evil spirits what the enemy uses to put pressure on our flesh. Everyone susceptible to sexual immorality (married and unmarried). You can not play with it because the flesh is weak! Unless you stay prayed up and empower your spirit-man we will not have the strength to stay no to it. Sexual immorality includes our unrighteous sexual thoughts, unrighteous sexual feelings, and our unrighteous sexual vivid imagination. Sexual immorality is the biggest killers of destiny! Christians must stay in prayer and keep away from anything that will entice us.

No, they are not. SOME Christians are, but many, many Christians are - to some extent at least - trying to not do this!

Miss seeing ya around here! hope all is well with you... and your caffeine cravings are a thing of the past! oops back to topic...

I just turned 53, in my 20s and 30s I avoided sex easily. In the past 10 years, it's almost impossible to avoid it, and for the very reasons you outline.
I can't date these days without it becoming an issue - maybe it's mid-life crisis, maybe it's knowing that, in a matter of years, I won't be capable or interested - or maybe it's the 78 year old lady next door who shot me with a real dose of reality last fall.

See, we'd become friends and were talking one night. I mentioned how good her life looked, she is financially independent, she lives in a luxury condo community for the aged (as do I), it's a pretty and safe place with wonderful neighbors.
Her daughter is a few miles away and life is good for her.

She told me I was crazy, right to my face! She said that all she had to look forward to was death and possible extended illness - and that she lives alone with no one to talk to and no sex. She told me to "Enjoy your youth" (YOUTH? I"m 53!) and go play with a few women while I can!

Of course, she's not at all a Christian - and this is part of the problem, she thinks that when she dies, it's just over and she's gone like before she was born - there is nothing.
Well, she's ill now and her daughter is over there all the time now. So, she is still loved and not really alone in the world... but her words haunt me.

They really do.

Blessings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

The hard reality is that we are still living in a fallen world of sin and rebellion. Christians are not immune to this. However, this does not give a Christian the right to continue to fornicate. The Scriptures are clear about what happens to those that commit such sins. The Scriptures clearly teach that we are to repent (turn away) from our sins, and follow Christ with a renewed mind. I was once in this category with my babies mother, we were both Christians, we prayed together, went to Church together, studied the Bible together; but we were living in fornication. I'm glad to announce that we are not longer living this way today.

What I would suggest to that Christian couple:

1) Go to your pastor and open up to him about the condition of your relationship
2) If you are truly in love with one another - seek out marriage
3) Seek out Godly counseling either through the Church or an out reach program

I hope this will help answer your question about this topic. Sorry if this was answered previously. I just saw this and made my comment about it. God Bless and have a wonderful Sunday

These Christians Believers are called "Carnal Christians". These people are part of the family of God (Paul calls them brethren). Though they have the Holy Spirit (unlike the natural man of 1 Corinthians 2:14) they are not behaving like spiritual people, but like carnal - that is, fleshly -people, like immature Christians (babes in Christ). The "Carnal Christian" is a child of God, born again and on his way to heaven, but they are traveling third class.

Sex before marriage is called "fornication" it is a sin and like all sins it is committed because people are sinful...it is not the fault of television since it existed long before television,it is not the fault of technology,it is not the fault of anyone or anything but the individuals involved and it is described as something that will keep one from heaven....it has been suggested that people do it because they want to be close to someone which I guess can be used as a reason for adultery as well.

I guess people lie because the truth does not serve their purpose.

I guess people steal because they want something but don't want to pay for it.

I guess people gossip because they don't like someone.

I guess people commit murder because somebody is standing in their way or preventing them from having what they want...or they just hate them.

I guess people commit idolatry because they like to make their own "gods" that serve them instead of the other way around.....people definitely have reasons for committing sins.

Greetings to you iLOVE

I would have to offer Scripture to re-butte this claim that was presented here. You and I can agree that the Bible is the Authority of God's Word? Therefore, let us examine through Scripture about this practice. But if you have a Scripture that says clearly the sexually immoral can and will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, I will be willing to review that Scripture with you. But it must clearly say that the sexual immoral can inherit the Kingdom.

I put emphasis on "clearly say" because we do not want to turn nor twist Scripture to fit anyone's opinion, but rather use it as a guide for our lives as a map to our destiny.... Heaven!

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

Mark 7:20-23 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person

1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Ephesians 5:3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.

If a brother or sister repent of their sins, Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins; but we shall not continue in that sin because then there was no repentance, just words spoken without obedience.

I hope this will clarify my position and what I feel is the clear teaching of the Bible.

Thoughts?

God Bless

This is the "work in progress" theory taken to the point of ignoring what scripture has to say on any given subject in order to excuse the practise of sin.
