Agreed. Considering they could have something that could transfer everything in your phone to their database in a mere swipe. But the inroad to that is to advertise the "ease" of the new App at traffic stops.

Like the magnetic stripe on driver licenses when they first came out. Here they were promoting that by telling drivers about how convenient it is given their tickets can be written faster with just a swipe of that license through the officers reader on their computer in the squad car.
Yes, that's what I want. Something that will one day make it possible to track me via a GPS chip in that same ID card as well as a faster ticket writing system. Fun fun.

I'd rather not depend on technology anymore than I have to. Having virtual data for something that important doesn't sound like a good idea to me. We take our electronics and technology for granted, but they aren't infallible.
If the electronic grid gets knocked out or something happens where we lose the use of our electronics on a nationwide scale, we're already screwed as it is now. Yeah, let's just screw ourselves over even more. Sounds great.
