Woman Sues Mall - Unbelievable

Yet, sadly it is believable at the same time.

Fountain Lady: 'Nobody Went to My Aid'

Here's video of a woman who says "she was texting a friend from church" when (as the video shows) she stumbled into a water fountain in the middle of a mall. She's suing because no one at the mall helped her, and because there were no rails around the fountain. She feels that the mall is responsible for her video going viral and her becoming the laughing stock of the internet.

Never mind that she had her head in the phone so deep, she didn't see the fountain that looks about 40-50 feet across and two feet high. :screwloose

In saying she was texting a friend from church, she might be a Christian. She doesn't say what kind of church. I would guess most would say a Christian should not bring suit over something like this. Some would say Christians should never sue anyone. What do you think, and why?

She wasn't hurt, so is it wrong for me to laugh at the video? :p

people have been caught doing a whole lot more, with much more merit....

why are they covering this....

it is her fault
freedom of press
she's not the only one

she needs to move on....

no one saw here face until now

so she will really be embarrassed

There was a piece in the news here the other day about a man who had his wallet stolen while he was in a store. He asked to see footage from the security camera, but wasn't allowed to see it. Only the police and security guards are allowed to look at security camera footage. I don't know about the rules in the US, but I think the rules we have here are as they should be. That video should never have left the mall. Whoever recorded it on their cell phone and then uploaded it to youtube should be fired. If you can't keep confidential material confidential, then you shouldn't be working with such material.

The fall itself was her own fault. As she said near the end of the interview, don't text and walk at the same time. Two foot high walls around the fountain are enough protection. There is no way of making the mall responsible for her fall.

Since she wasn't hurt and didn't suffer any loss that was the store's responsibility, but was only humiliated and embarassed, I think that it would be enough to fire the person or people responsible for releasing the video and appologizing to the woman, preferably publically (e.g. on the news), since her humiliation was public. I don't see any reason for this to go to court.
