Women and their money

Your agenda comes with your presuppositions.
Money is not an issue in our household re my wife and me. She is the competent treasurer as a former bank employee. Both of us have income and it goes into joint accounts.
As to what is hers and what is mine is never an issue. We love each other and respect the need for both of us to be open in our use of and need for money.
Has striving over money been an issue with you and your spouse?

I guess I should chime in and say that after marriage there's no such thing as "his" and "mine".
Everything is "ours". At least that's the way it should be.
Although I will consider the following in the next few days:
1. What's mine is mine and what's his is mine.
2. It's just as hard to spend money as it is to earn it.

When I married Deeter my credit was pitiful. We, not I in the world's sense of I, have the ability to walk out of the bank with an unsecured loan, today. She is me just as much as I am her and when I counsel youngsters I make certain they understand that marriage is a job that will never be finished and that it does not ever require a fifty/fifty effort. I have and still do devote one hundred and ten percent as does my precious lady because that is what it takes.
But it looks like you know that.

These youngsters have bought into the Hollywood sex lies and none of them seem to be taught that this marriage thing 'can' be a good deal of pleasure but it must be pursued and worked on.

Very well said. When my Tori & I married, I bought an awful load of debt into the marriage. I was transparent right from the start when we started pre-marriage counselling course. I wasn't going to hide it.
We are one, she is me and me her. We strive to complete each other. Putting finances aside as it should not be the focusing issue. The issue should be husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church. I would never want my prayers to be hindered because I don't see my wife as an equal, and do not love her as Christ loves the church.
You are right, our youngsters need marriage counselling. It involves the whole of life, not just finances. It should encompass everything that life can throw at us.
There are times when my wife has carried me and times I have carried her.

In the 8 years I've been with Matt we have never fought over money.
I consider myself blessed.
Plus, both of our parents live within their means. We have zilch debt.
Angel,
Does that mean you have paid off your own house, motor vehicle, etc? My children are around the 40 mark and they have to go into debt to be able to get into a house. If they choose to put that money into rent rather than a house, they can spend a long time living off the smell of an oily rag.
You are blessed if you have no disagreements over money. That's not the case for most Christians I know.

We live in an apartment, and we don't have a car. We take the bus or our parents drive us. Our income is social security. We don't have much, but are pretty comfortable. We never have missed rent. I got a prescription from a Doctor for a therapy pet so we don't have to pay extra in rent for Star. We have little hobbies to pass the time. We spend a lot of time with Matt's parents. I love them, they are so sweet.

You are encouraged to be in such a fortunate situation. Most of the Christians I know here in Australia do not have such a means of getting around. There is public transport but not so if you live outside of the metropolitan area. Live in the 'bush' and you'll have a lot of walking to do to compensate for your buses and parents' transport.
