Works?

Jesus told the parable of the Pharasee and the sinner to distinguish a difference between proud arrogance, and humble repentance. In my opinion repentance is an action we are given to do. A work if you will.

I agree with Not_Now.Soon, we have to not want certain things according to our "old self"and then we can work through the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:22-23

IMO Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear that no man’s or woman’s works, can save them. Only the Grace of God thru Jesus Christ can save us.

But unfortunately everyone stop at verse 9. Because seeing our own works can’t save us Paul makes a statement in verse 10 of Ephesians 2, that sounds a lot like James 2. We are call God’s workmanship created to walk in good works. Only the Holy Spirit working in Christian can do these works, they don’t save us but show our true faith, James 2:14-20

Does God accept mans works or the Holy Spirit Works?

Ejstevens has it the answer, so olive reread what he has written.

We do good works to show we love God.

Everything we do is done out of love for God.

How do we do the good works and also how do we love God?

If you do not know what 'good' is or what 'works' are you have a problem.

No where are good works defined in the Bible, but just like guidance, God does not tell us when to get up or what cloths to wear, rather he leaves that to our intelligence, so he does the same about ' goodworks '.

The wisdom of God must always have the final say and not our intelligence. Therefore, if our works are not produced and birth by the Holy Spirit, it's dead works and rotten fruit.

At the Judgement Seat of Christ, all works of the Believer must be birth and produced by the Holy Spirit. If they are not birth and produced by the Holy Spirit, it is dead works and rotten fruit.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss (refers to the loss of reward, but not Salvation): but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Cor. 3:12-15

Jesus Christ constantly says that we will be judged by our works. It starts off with our good works as humans but end with the works of the holy spirit in our lives. It is easy to assume that the holy spirits works are more better, and give greater reward.

Always remember this, God the Father will not accept anything from man that is not birthed and produced by the Holy Spirit.
