Starts today!!! :bounce

So, who's everyone rooting for, and who do you think have the best chances for winning?

I have to cheer for USA since I'm American, but my heart lies with England's team as I lived there as a child....and they play waaaaaay better football.

Spain looks quite formidable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go all the way, but it's too early to tell and anything can happen. Maybe we'll see the three lions in the final? :popcorn

Now, Caroline, when in Rome... You're in America now, so do as the Americans do - just say no to soccer ;)

I'm just givin' the business. :) Have fun with your little sport. (a real barn burner with the 1-1 tie today, and a 0-0 tie so far in game 2) :salute

Not must into soccer, but I'm rooting for the USA of course also Australia and Holland. But I'm thinking Brazil will probably win it all. So who are you rooting for today Caroline, England or the United States, please don't tell me another tie?

I've always rooted for England, but I do want the USA to do well also...but I know they won't. I doubt England will reach the Semi finals themselves...maybe the quarter finals but we'll see. That game on Saturday was painful! The funny thing is that the USA feels they had a success getting a tie out of the game, while England are highly insulted by a tie with them...especially one given up like that. I feel badly for Green :sad

Yeah they are, that's why I don't like them really. But they can't win everything, and they didn't win the last world cup, and I don't think they'll win this one either.

They're beating N. Korea 2-0 right now though.

Yep...2-1 final...

Well, they're not the fave for this year. I guess we'll see?

The great thing about sports. Nothing is as clear as the papers make it sound. :) Go USA!!!!!!!!!

That's right, on any given day anyone can beat anyone. We were watching a game the other day, and one of the commentators was talking about statistics and how the game looked to be played out in theory, and he said "but games aren't played on paper are they?" :lol

Well, it's half time right now and USA are down 2-0... I wonder if they think they can pull themselves back out :chin

OK, so the USA just got robbed of a free kick goal by an outstanding example of bad refereeing. Would've been 3-2!!! :angry

I've actually been watching more than I have ever before. I'm a huge sports fan, but not so much soccer.

I wonder what people from other countries have to say about the call on the U.S. goal. There's a lot of people upset here, but I couldn't say if this is legitimate or if it's our media being homers.

No, it's not our media being homers. I've been watching with British commentators, and it seems to pop up in their conversations alot. It was clear that the American's were being fouled all over the box, so whatever foul the ref saw coming from the Americans must have been so much more important...or in his mind :gah The foreigners I've been listening too thought it was a baaad call too. :grumpy

WHOA!! Did anyone see the Portugal / N. Korea game today? I watched part of it, but when Portugal scored their 5th goal I left. Apparently, they went on to score 2 more goals, killing N. Korea with a 7-0 put-down! :o :lol

Ok, I can't hold back anymore... I'm just gonna say this. I HATE THOSE STUPID TRUMPETS they've given everyone at the World Cup. I think they have taken away a very important dynamic of the game, which is the influence that the fan's cheers and songs have on the players. :angry2

You can't here a single song at this bloomin' tournament!! :mad

Oh, and COME ON USA!! They play Ghana Saturday.
:clap
