to do without the electronic of modern technology like the Iphone, TV, cell phone, laptop, MP3, your accounts at the networking sites for a week or more?

For me I do not watch TV. Is much as I love my laptop I could do without it. My cell phone I hardly use except when necessary. I have never been a phone person, I love talking to people face to face.

I know some people must use a cell phone in connection with their business.

Unfortunately, I have to say "no" though I'd like to be able to do without them. I'm in school in a Masters' program, I am an addictions counselor, I have a ministry at church and I have two young adult children who still need help and guidance from dear old Dad on a regular basis. My entertainment is sports and news on TV, and DVD'd episodes of NCIS and movies on demand. "Talking" is what I do on here, for the most part. What do I do in my spare time? Eat and sleep, with the electronics turned off or ignored. They pretty much own me, I'm afraid.

You really have your work cut out. I understand:p

TV and computer... for personal use, no problem, but I do need to use the computer one day a week for my job.

I have an MP3, but I can never get it away from my daughter.

But cell phone? No. Not with the way my family gets scattered all around during the week. It's our main way of being able to get ahold of each other so that I can pick someone up, meet Steve etc.

Sounds reasonable to me.:)

It's hard for people to have to give up that which they are accustomed to, but for me, yes I can give it all up in a heart beat if necessary for there is a time coming that none of these material things will matter anymore.

Matthew 24:
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

This is true..:p

Without TV? Definitely. I barely watch it anymore. I mostly only use the set when I happen to play video games, and I lived without those for most of my life. I would kinda miss them, but it wouldn't bother me that much.

I'd get extremely bored without the computer and other electronic devices, though. (I'd definitely miss my MP3 player.)
Though I'd probably get more work done.

Okay, personally, I'm seeing two lines of thought here. For me, I would not want to go without my computer, although I have and could again. For me, it is a tool of much ministry. It is also a necessary tool for my current full-time profession which at the moment is a 5-day a week job.

Obviously, there will come times when these things do not matter, and then I will gladly leave them aside. However, until the Lord returns we are to be doing all things unto the Lord, even when we use our laptops, watch our T.V.s or use our cell phones.

All this talk of technology makes you think. Do theists believe that technology and the creation thereof is a gift from God? A divinely imparted skill etc etc.

Would that lead you to believe that Heaven has it's own "technology"?

Hmmmm.:chin What form would that even take?

At work? No. If our system crashed with no recovery option, it is sad to say but our business would probably go bankrupt. At one time, about 40 years ago, we did everything on blueprint drawings but no any more. By the time we could get engineers and designers equipped and up to speed we'd be so far behind we'd likely never catch up and our customers would go to our competitors.

At home? Yes. One of the things I enjoy most about camping and fishing trips is that we are out of range of television, internet, and cell phone service.
