This is true but a cold battery can't produce the level of current of a warm one for the same reason they last longer in cold conditions.

yes but the back up generator will make up the difference the argument is akin to saying trains cant move in the cold. a train is a hybrid system the servos on the wheels are electric. they have a diesel that turns the turbine which powers the servos, and air compressors for the brakes. im sure it has a battery to start the system.

no system is perfect. an electric car and gas one as you just mention both need batteries once the electric car that I have mentioned(evo) is started the voltage regulator will once the battery is seen to drop below a certain level cause the generator to kick in. that is what im saying. lithium ion batteries not lead batteries is what electric cars use. totally different creature

im not saying that they are good and I don't think we should buy them but the cost of a new truck and some cars in comparison to the evo( to the consumer not counting taxes and the cost that the maker of them eats) isn't as much of a difference. here I have seen 4wd ford f-150 sell for 40k. that is wow. I could buy a house the size of mine for that amount. im not going to buy an electric car( they do sell here for under 20k from Mitsubishi) nor hybrid. I prefer a small truck.

remember those battery powered lawn gear and so forth, flash lights and drills? those use lithium ion batteries. im not saying they aren't affected by the cold, just probably not the same.

Whether they start or don't start, I don't think electric cars would be able to function that well in the cold and snow.

I would never own one.........unless it was given to me.

see my point about trains those are electric. I have a friend that works as an engineer and told me the engines basic. they push not pull the two engine trains we see here is that the train has a back up the second one is working and the lights on the front one is working as well they are linked and can start each other. they also are in the front, and run it from that. that is why I said that. the evo is as close as one can get to an electric car and the Nissan version. both have generators. the tesla insane mode works because unlike the engine it has torgue and hp upon start up. an engine has power ranges.

i wouldn't buy electric as they don't save money, they are overly costly and cost the builder a lot an are a loss to both consumer and maker.

Suddenly school zones will 'really' be interstate highways.

While I definitely appreciate how much of technology enhances my life, I really don't want a car I don't have to drive, don't have to pay attention to the road (or air) for other traffic or speed limit signs, don't have to worry about parallel parking. With driving comes responsibility. The advancement of vehicular technology decreases the need for the driver to be responsible.

they can program it to see the light flashing, or to read the times and then act. simple if then statements. im sure we can do that.

the only thing I see good for this is that the elderly who cant drive anymore would be able to, but well if it breaks. that will be a problem.

It definitely wouldn't work on the turnpike around Kansas City, where one can get a ticket for being a traffic hazard if one is driving the speed limit during rush hour drive times.

With the ability to shut this off, I don't see the justification in the extra cost of a worthless gadget. I have not had a ticket in years, and all my over the road truck driving for 10 years I never got a ticket or log violation. I obey the posted speed limit signs as it's not hard to do if your concentrating on driving, which you should be.

I assume this is for those that want to send text and not pay attention to driving, but don't want to get a speeding ticket either. Lawbreakers can shut it of anyway.

My grandma could use something to speed up her car to at least match the speed limit. Now that would be useful.
